EXCLUSIVE: Reason First-Wiz Khalifa Facing Nine Months In Romanian Prison Over Drug Possession
Wiz Khalifa apologized profusely to the country of Romania after having 18 grams of cannabis on his person, which is not fully legal.

It makes one wonder if some people do things on purpose. Small, little inklings of ideas that result in huge ramifications. With Wiz Khalifa being caught up in a possible nine year sentence due to possession of 18 grams of marijuana in Romania, this slip up could’ve been prevented. This happened in 2024.
He’s too smart to not have known the strict substance laws in this European country. After lighting up one on stage and being fined nearly $700 in US money, he was let go. But only for a moment. Upon further inspection of his belongings, the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism or DIICOT discovered the grams of weed.
Now, facing almost a decade in prison, someone should have known in his camp if not the main man on the trigger himself. A simple Google search query would have shown that much.

Again, this all could’ve been calculated. It’s a benefit of the doubt for something so stupid. If he had sense enough to go to a foreign country, perform, get paid, and take time to soak in the sights, he should have been prepared to go half way around the world and not take the Khalifah Kush along with him.
It’s been said that some Romanian prisons stand as rough places to be. The one where Wiz is being held could be either a luxury hotel or penitentiary hell.
Whatever the case, the successful rapper needs to be more cautious and aware. If ever the notion of “woke” needed to be applied, it’s here.
He should have been conscious of his surroundings and able to see the long game. Instead of focusing on strands and strains, Wiz should be committed to information about various venues before getting committed again.
As it stands, Wiz is holed up in this Romanian prison shackled to a system that doesn’t care how many diamond singles he’s sold. What makes it all the more tragic is that Wiz has a son and a daughter in his life.
This sets a precarious example for his children. It’s known that he enjoys cannabis. He, yet, should light up only when it's on soil and in an area where such action is permitted.
For him to just brazenly take a toke from a spliff on stage and then for the DIICOT to discover more bud on you or in your luggage is beyond the province of a thinking man like Wiz.
Should he go to a Romanian prison for mine months? Possibly. Will he? Most likely not. The United States has been rather lenient when it comes to marijuana these past few years. If the American ambassador to Romania can convince the authorities that this whole matter remains a fluke and never will happen again, there’s a strong chance Wiz will be set free early.
Until then, he may even consider not having weed at all abroad. While it’s legal in Amsterdam, anywhere outside of the Red Light District could spell trouble to those looking to catch a high from some good green.
Wiz is too smart to just walk around someone else’s country and possess marijuana. If he is to be punished, he earned it. Nine months, though, that may be a bit extreme. Maybe another fine and a commitment that he will never bring the drugs to Romania ever again. If he does, then that’s when he should be punished.

To consider his business deals and his music output, he has become one of Pittsburgh’s finest along with the late great August Wilson.
For him to throw all of his accomplishments away and be relegated to work in some dank pesthole of a prison in Romania, that signals to his family that he’s irresponsible and selfless.
If he were selfish, he would’ve considered his role as provider and awesome artist to boot.
Wiz should take this as a lesson before everything he worked so smart for goes up in smoke.
