Cortisol Reduction

Who needs a cortisol reduction when your seduction does it for me

Stoic in the shadows but with the gentlest heart inside

It's amazing at how one look makes me melt

You take me on the wildest rides

And I don't know how I met you since we often passed each other by

You were always within reach but we were on parallel sides

And it's difficult to line up two beings so in motion

But when we finally collided I couldn't get over the commotion

I could feel from the quiver of your lips that you were just as vulnerable as me

It's difficult not to connect especially when you feel each other so deep

And though we still have to put in the work the spark has never left its place

I can always feel your magnetism pulling me into a daze

And I don't know how I met you since we often passed each other by

You were always within reach but we were on parallel sides

And it's difficult to line up two beings so in motion

But when we finally collided I couldn't get over the commotion

I crave your very touch and love listening to the sound of your laugh

Sometimes years just get away as we continue down this path

And I'm thankful for the time we've spent together but I still crave hard

The closeness we experience when we both let down our guards

And I don't know how I met you since we often passed each other by

You were always within reach but we were on parallel sides

And it's difficult to line up two beings so in motion

But when we finally collided I couldn't get over the commotion

Backyard Headlines

Fatigue hits my feet as my knees hit the ground

So much going on that I could emotionally drown

And my eyelids won't stay open but through grit I make it through

Hoping the next day I'll feel fresh and renewed

Now the stories on TV are too close to the stories in my life

Surprises behind every twist and turn and sometimes things seem so unkind

I try to find the optimism though I have to dig real deep

But I can't waste my time playing a melancholy game of hide and seek

There's a lot of expectations even though they're no longer earned

Sometimes people feel like their entitled to things even after they dragged your heart into the dirt

And I know I'm expected to smile and agree but I just can't make that feel right

So instead I am oppositional when something feels wrong sparking a sudden fight

Now the stories on TV are too close to the stories in my life

Surprises behind every twist and turn and sometimes things seem so unkind

I try to find the optimism though I have to dig real deep

But I can't waste my time playing a melancholy game of hide and seek

Filled with apprehension I used to wait for every call

Scared to even answer it as it was never something small

It got hard to juggle life and the unexpected surprises on the other end

It made me constantly on guard and serenity was suddenly a long lost friend

Now the stories on TV are too close to the stories in my life

Surprises behind every twist and turn and sometimes things seem so unkind

I try to find the optimism though I have to dig real deep

But I can't waste my time playing a melancholy game of hide and seek

Breathe Easy

Peaceful quiet at the end of the day

I used to be nervous when things ended this way

But I've learned to enjoy taking a gentle pause Breaking from all the noise and having more time

Especially when you're the one by my side

And it just takes my fingertips gliding across your back

One of your smiles or one of your laughs

A small conversation while I get lost in your eyes those are the memories that remind me I'm alive

Who needs the club or distraction at night

We’ll make our own adventures when you're holding me tight

And I live in a different world when I'm spending time with you

There's so much to see and so much to do

And it just takes my fingertips gliding across your back

One of your smiles or one of your laughs

A small conversation while I get lost in your eyes those are the memories that remind me I'm alive

This isn’t a story in which I know what happens next

I'm not one without a plan

I usually know what to expect

But I rely on my faith and I also trust you

Hoping whatever occurs is something we can conquer and work through

And it just takes my fingertips gliding across your back

One of your smiles or one of your laughs

A small conversation while I get lost in your eyes those are the memories that remind me I'm alive
