Sick, Tired, and Done

The results of the recent presidential election have caused strong, warranted emotions in Black women.

Sick

Tired

And Done.

Three words

Describing how Black women currently feel.

We naively put our future

And our faith

In the hands of people

Who would not so much as spit on us

If we were on fire!

We thought maybe,

Just maybe,

People would look at the bigger picture.

Look beyond their notions

And see us for once.

I mean,

It is the least they could have done.

After all,

We constantly show up for them.

Constantly put our necks,

Our life

On the line for them!

Yet,

They could not be bothered to return the favor.

Once again,

They decided that we weren't worth anything to them.

They decided not to show up for us

As we have for them.

But you know what,

It's okay.

Truly,

It is okay.

Do you know why it's okay?

Because,

My sisters,

We did our job.

We understood what needed to be done.

We did all that we could.

Was it enough?

Unfortunately, no.

But do not be discouraged.

We fought

Long and hard

For everyone.

We've done so

For years,

Decades,

And even centuries.

We are sick and tired

Of fighting for those who would not

And have not fought for us.

We are sick,

And we are tired.

And most importantly,

We

Are

Done!

Stay strong. It's another round of the same fight but you'll never be knocked out.
