Show me Shelter

Have you ever tried to run?

By Emily McGuffPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

Have you ever tried to run

Tried to run from the rain

Dashing between the falling drops

Searching for that elusive hiding place

-

I can’t help but see the look

In those apathetic stares

they think I’m worthless

That I’m nothing

Just wish someone could see me as I am

As a human

Just lost her way

And all I need is someone to show me shelter

-

My feet begin to lose traction

As the liquid turns to ice

And I realize people’ve forgotten

The power they can choose to hold

Clouds roll quickly across the skies

Billowing smoke, mother’s breath

Showing the way the wind blows

But speaks nothing of my path

-

I can’t help but see the look

In those apathetic stares

you think I’m worthless

think I’m nothing

just wish you could see me as I am

as a human

just lost her way

and I all I need is for you to show me shelter
