Rainbows

-

By Elsa Michaela | @surfthoughtPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

When all you can do is;

Witness the clouds sailing,

A Mediterranean potted garden balanced on the steps of a terraced house on Goldspink lane,

The branches of a silver grey eucalyptus waving

A tabby cat, tail high, paws dancing after a leaf scattered along by the wind, (he is my cat)

A graffiti heart, childlike, running free and openly across the city's pop-up pages

A 1960 VW surf bus pleased as Elmer among a modern herd of indifferent vehicles

The huge open gates of the graveyard looking on,

embrace the sleeping stones, exhausted and collapsed

(The poems they offer to passers by are heavier now to hold)

A magpie lands, becomes two, just in time

Today is not tomorrow,

And I no longer make wishes

So why then, why

Do rainbows find me?

About the Creator

Elsa Michaela | @surfthought

When you hear a song

One that stops you in your tracks

That seems spoken from your own mind

Do you listen and listen again?

Follow its streams until a tide,

Inside you

Rushes to fill in the small hollow parts

…Yeah, me too
