A Teacher’s Desk
Where care learns to rest

Today is National Clean Your Desk Day.
A day for a little decluttering…of the desk, and the mind.
Care learns to rest.
📖✏️📖✏️📖✏️📖
My work desk, clear
Soon bears the weight of heartfelt care
Pens and paper, fraught with fear
And tears I dare not wipe
Too soon.
📖✏️📖✏️📖✏️📖
Then I start to clear the mess
One section at a time
My hands slow, lifting undue stress
That freezes heart and mind -
Then calm.
📖✏️📖✏️📖✏️📖
Then a welcome, open space
With few pencils, only air -
My mind now breathes, has a place
For long-awaited care
That stays.
📖✏️📖✏️📖✏️📖
An empty space, safe and clear
A stillness, not described -
Apt for gentleness to steer
It leads with love, and time -
That soothes.

My life is chaos. If I'd know there was a Clean Your Desk Day, I never would have survived. ⚡😂
Beautiful thoughts
Such a beautiful reminder that clearing our physical space can also clear our minds. I found this so calming to read :-)
My daughters would agree with you on de-cluttering to bring peace and calm. My desk could only be described as an organized mess...meaning that I know where everything is and if somebody tried to clean it up I would panic. Wonderful depiction in your poem...nailed it.
Eghh, I need to clean my desk. I don't want to, though. I might find something I forgot to do, lol ;)
