Rock. Paper. Scissors.
The original inspiration for my artwork series: Rock. Paper. Scissors. are the intricate Chinese paper cuts that my mother would create during Chinese new year called chuāng huā. As a child I would watch her meticulously cut traditional Chinese designs using her tiny pair of scissors. She would make designs including zodiac animals, flowers and Chinese characters arranged within a highly patterned background. These intricate paper cuts would be hung in the window to catch the sunlight and create beautiful dappled shadow patterns. Throughout history, many different cultures have their own version of paper cut folk art customs similar to this such as papel picado in Mexico or scherenschnitt in Germany & Switzerland. I wanted to create patterns of my own like my mother created but with organic and natural shapes that I am familiar with in my contemporary life.

River Lagan Walks. Part Eight.
Getting out and about in Mother Nature is good for my health, mental health and well-being and for my River Lagan Walks books available on Amazon.com-Aunidan Christi and for my stories here on Vocal.Media.com and the various Social Media Sites and photography sites I am on online.

The Great Blue Heron Debate
I interval run and was out for the first time since we got back from vacation. I took my camera with me. I've gotten used to lugging my big ole Canon along because I don’t want to be sorry I didn’t have it. I'm always on the look out for things that might make interesting photos.

Karma Chameleon
Have you ever experienced one of those moments when you look up from a thought, profound or not, and find it inexplicably reflected in what you see in front of you? When the inward and the outward do a tandem dance. Far beyond any logic. It’s magic. This was one of those moments for me.

Greek Gods And Goddesses but Make it Fashion. Top Story - June 2021.
I am a Photography student at Nossi College of Art, but I also really enjoy fashion and costume design. Currently in my fine art class, I had to choose a project that would keep my attention for an entire 15-week semester. I chose to do a series of environmental fashion portraits, editorial style, themed after the Greek Gods and Goddesses, and I wanted to create the wardrobe. The assignment requires that the series must contain twenty images and they must all be different. To me, that means making 20 different deity portraits. It will be challenging, but so far it has been really rewarding and it fuels my happiness.

The Howling Ape and the Angry Gator
Swamps sorely are underappreciated. Though vaunted, the vast swathes of land in America’s middle are largely desolate. The sprinkling of rocky landmarks across these states hardly makes up for their endless expanses of dullness. Florida’s wetlands are brimming with sounds and sights. The liveliest of forests seem still by comparison.

The Cheetah and the Garden of Eden
The Serengeti in Tanzania is a vast open landscape of wonder and suprise. But it can also be endless miles of driving through valleys filled with grass, seeing an occasional gazelle or a nervous impala, twitching its fur to get rid of the flies and and avoid the ineviteable predator. From our anthropomorphic eyes, they almost seem to know or sense in some way that all impalas will die in a kill from a perdator in search of its weekly meal. Of course, all safari goers are looking for the hunt. But this cheetah taught me a far deeper lesson.

Taking Nature for Granted
In my neighborhood I see squirrels, coyotes, raccoons, possums, cooper hawks, and red-tailed hawks often. I don't really think about how there might be some people in the world that would be in awe of these animals, because I will just spot them in my yard. I also hadn't thought about how there were places where I could see animals that I would be in awe of without having to go on a safari. That's until I got to Australia and discovered that amazing animals were all around the cities I was visiting. I couldn't imagine that there were people that just see these animals daily.

Short Rest on the Reeds
It was a warm spring day, almost summer, and I was biking around my small town. Birds were chirping, nature finally waking up from its yearly slumber, when I noticed the day had a glowing quality to it. Light shimmered and weaved through branches of trees with their rich green leaves, still young and bright. I had a sudden spark of inspiration, and I realized what I needed to do.
