humanity
Isn't it ironic that the very best of humanity is seen through the love and empathy we show to our pets?
My Cat Shima
Author's note: The below story was originally published in November 2016. Since that time my life has taken many strange and exciting twists and I have become the guardian of many, many more cats. I have even lost some as well. Only perhaps one has touched me as much as Shima did. I still miss her dearly.

Hammie was always "my" dog.
In my “past life” I was an Animal Health Technologist and Dog Behaviouralist. Which is a fancy way of saying, I was an animal nurse and got to play with puppies all day. For the most part, I loved my job, but there was always something nagging at me under the surface. Something that never quite fit properly. I would bounce from job to job, trying to figure it out but eventually, the pattern of burnout would repeat itself and I would quit finding something else.

Our Residential Pet
At the facility that I work at, there is a lovable dog that comes in with one of our nurses. She is a big dog, always with a smile and a wagging tail. She’s always adorned with a collar with a pink bow on it. Her name is Sunny. Her name is very suitable her, as whenever she comes in, everyone lights up. I am proud to consider her a coworker.

our family will be grateful to you forever
In my country, the attitude towards pets is totally different. I would call her wild. More precisely in the Republic of Moldova (a small country between Romania and Ukraine). Dogs and cats do not stay in the house, they are not allowed to play on the bed and no one buys them nice clothes.

As They Say, Who Rescued Whom? . Top Story - September 2021.
You really only get one reaction when you tell someone that you work for a dog rescue: their eyes light up and they smile. And it’s usually followed up with something like “That must be so rewarding.” That’s been my experience, anyway.

Our Pack. Top Story - August 2021.
My girlfriend and I came together ten years ago not knowing where our lives would take us. Never did either of us imagine the amount of fur we'd later surround ourselves with. Both of us had pets growing up and have a love for animals that runs deep. They are not just our pets, but our babies. The deal we make with them is very important to us. If you join our pack and share with us your unconditional love then we will provide for you all that we can and put your needs above our own. Our four dogs and two cats deliver on their promise with each passing moment and so do we. Let me tell you about them.

Pets, they are great
The kids are grown, have families and pets of their own, and are making their own pet stories. The pets of childhood are a pleasant and distant cherished memory. The photo above is from Unsplash, by a lovely lady, named Krista Mangulsone whom I do not know, but admire her taste in photography.

The Freedom of Working from Home
Sometimes it’s not the job that helps you impact the world, but sometimes it helps. Five months ago, I was working a job that was financially fulfilling, but emotionally draining. The ratio was no longer tolerable for me. I won’t go deep into it, but in the middle of a pandemic and at a time when my faith in my employer’s morality was at an all-time low, they announced our pay cuts. The lower pay rate was scheduled to begin on my first day back from a week’s vacation. I never came back from that vacation.

Coping with Cat & Dog Sibling Rivalry
As parents of human children, dogs, cats, or any type of animal, we want our babies to get along. We dream of them becoming best friends and are filled with joy when we see them playing together happily. My human kids went through various phases of loving and hating each other, leading to times of peace and chaos. I hadn’t considered that these phases would also occur with our pets. I was so naive!
