dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Aging: Finding Companionship and More in Dogs
Growing older can cause loneliness, isolation, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, heart problems or diseases, higher stress, brain changes, faster cognitive decline, decreased memory, and a higher chance of drug abuse. As we grow older, how do we combat this? From 1998 to 2019 the number of people in the United States owning a dog went up 56%. The American Pet Products Association reported that 63.4 million households in the United States own dogs, according to their National Pet Owners Survey. Other than their obvious popularity and cute factor, owning a dog can benefit older adults in many ways.

If You Have a Dog, You’re Already Practicing Self-Care
In the day-to-day life of an average adult, free time is a rare experience. We work long days. We have a lot of chores to keep up with. We’re lucky if we can even find time to relax, much less focus on what we can do for ourselves. Our well-being is often not our priority, but if you think about it for a minute, you’re actually putting in more effort than you thought you were.

My Ginger Bear
Owning a dog is not something special for all people. I mean, almost half of Americans own a dog, but the bonds are all different. I have owned dogs since I was six years old and have developed a love for them that is hard to describe. The closest I can think to explain it is an adult wanting to be a parent. You know those people, maybe you’re one of them? Ever since you were little you dreamt of having children and it excites you to think about it all coming true and terrifies you if something should keep you from it. That’s how I feel about having dogs. I want a dog like a woman wants a baby. Laugh if you must. I’m not offended.

for the love of Dogs
It all started when I was tiny. My love of dogs has been with me for as long as I can remember, as I’ve grown up with dogs almost my whole life. When I was little, I had two terrier mixes, Millie and Stella. They were my first love, and ever since then. Dogs were my favorite thing. In elementary school, dogs were my whole life and took over almost every aspect of my young life. It became so intense that many of my teachers, aides, and other helpers wanted me to tone down my love for dogs. I took this to mean that I should stop loving dogs entirely because I couldn’t understand why everyone told me to talk about things other than dogs.
