dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Dream Dog
Hi, my name is Kristy and I am writing a true story about my dream dog and how she became mine. Back in 2012 I had a regretful and heart-breaking decision to make. I had to put my Shar-Pei to sleep. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life and it wasn't a light one at that. Still to this day, I remember the last day I had to say goodbye like it is a bad dream that keeps reoccurring. They say the loss of a loved one gets easier to live with but they don't tell you that it never completely heals or goes away, that the last day you see them and the state their in, or the last hug and kiss you gave and the last goodbye you say to them lingers on in your memories forever more. But the loss does become easier, until you find something that makes you weep like a baby due to the hurt from missing that animal or loved one is brought back up through a story or a scripture on a piece of paper once more.

It Takes a Thief
The year of masks and social distancing made Maggie long for the touch of another living being. It had been so long since she found anyone she wanted to even have a Zoom date with, but here she is making dinner for someone she just met last weekend. At her home no less!

DAMIAN
I grew up in a family of cat lovers so I didn’t know how much I loved dogs until I was older. I lost one of the sweetest dogs ever in May 2019. It was so unexpected. He was 11 years old and I thought he was healthy but he suddenly stopped eating. I took him to my veterinarian and he informed me that Damian’s kidneys were failing. He pretty much told me Damian’s chances of survival were very poor but I still decided to try to save him. They put him on dialysis and gave him pain medicine but Damian only survived the night. To say that I was devastated is an understatement. I love all my dogs but there was something special about Damian. Even though it has been almost two years now, I am having a hard time writing about him. I know other animal lovers will be able to relate to my pain. Damian got me through many tough times and I could just see the love in his beautiful brown eyes. He was there for me after a car accident that stripped me of so many things and left me with many health issues. And even worse than that terrible car accident was the loss of my grandmother. He was such an understanding and gentle dog...I was so unprepared to lose him. It might sound odd but I feel like we had a special connection, it always seemed like he understood how I was feeling. I could see it in his eyes.

She was there
In September 1995, a baby girl came along, completing the family of Mr & Mrs McLeish. They met in the coastal town of South Shields, in the North East of England, in August 1994. She was a barmaid, he was a soldier who was on leave and decided to spend his time with a colleague who lived there. They said it was love at first sight. Once their eyes locked; they simply had to be together - and it was very telling that they married in the January of 1995, leading to that honeymoon baby nine months later.

Liberation of a Dog
It was November 2012. I received a Facebook message from my friend, Randy, asking me to call him as soon as possible. I could almost hear the desperation in his written words, so I knew I had to call him immediately. He had an upstairs neighbor that had gotten a pit bull puppy that he left on the balcony without food and water. He was horrified by the wails of the puppy as it cried in between beatings from the horrible human who owned it…or should I say, kept it prisoner. He knew that something had to be done. He had contacted animal control to no avail. He never got a response from them. He knew that I worked with rescues, so he hoped I could help.

Stray to Stay
When people ask me where I got my dog, Bowie, I always end up telling the full story. How could I not? It was so random but so perfect, we were definitely meant to find one another. To this day, he’s my best friend and we are always on the same page. Sometimes I think he’s me, only in dog form.
