Sunset at the Field
I don’t believe in love at first sight. I suppose I did once, back when I believed in fairies and magic and that good things happen to good people. Those days are long gone. I have come to find that love is a slow burn, quick to light but slow to flourish. It grows slowly, concealed in the small moments, unnoticed until it is a roaring fire.

Sweet Pups: An Interview
A few months ago, my sister, Janis, decided that she was going to adopt a dog of her own. It was a long process because her apartment’s landlord usually has restrictions that prohibit residents from keeping pets. However, thanks to approval from a doctor, they made an exception for her to adopt a pet. By this point, she decided on who she was going to adopt: a foxy rat terrier puppy named “Angie” who was renamed “Zelda” after a character from the “Legend of Zelda” series of games. Then came the day of adoption and I joined Janis to cross state lines into Massachusetts to take Zelda home.

Our Miracle Buddy
Leo was my miracle little buddy. He was a clingy little guy that grew up with lots of hugs and love, something in short supply during the global pandemic. During that dark period, many of us questioned whether seeking an emotional connection with others was possible. When Leo’s owner suddenly passed away, he became despondent. Leo lost his appetite, and the surviving husband expressed little desire to meet Leo’s health and emotional needs.

Bubbles - Special Cat
Bubbles has been with me about 4 months each day she’s been making progres. Bubbles is a rescue cat from a well known UK animal charity called “RSPCA” her original name was called “Aurbun” but I didn’t really like the name. I had a few names for her but I can’t remember now what they were now; however I went to the RSPCA centre with my boyfriend to go and meet her first, this was because it was due to the fact that it’s easy to say I can adopt her straight away but it was down to Bubbles at the end of the day if she can accept me and my boyfriend.

The ball that threw itself
Jordan and I walked through the seemingly endless rows of barking, jumping, and tail-wagging dogs, searching for the “one.” Most families congregated around the “green-collared” dogs—dogs with no major behavioral issues—introducing their shyly excited toddlers and young children to these mellow canine companions.

A rescue's "unexpected" journey
The index card at the shelter may not read "BUDDY" but as I looked at the picture over the Internet I saw Buddy. Oh, this dog wasn't exactly like him. But the stature, the beautiful tail, the face and, most of all, the LOOK of fear on the face was exactly what I saw when I selected Buddy to rescue! And, there's no heart on the forehead like my sweet boy but there's the beautiful Buddy look that I see day in and day out. The look that melts my heart each and every time that I see it.

Mimi was a street dog that saved me
Mimi was a street dog, she was the best dog ever! We found her on the streets and we brought her home. I was lonely at home because my mom was a single mother who worked for our future and fought for our lives, I was lonely but never alone because 'Mimi' was with me and rescued me from my depression and loneliness in a small town in Mexico where women learn to be warriors of life without the help of anyone, especially man with a macho perspective against women .I was learning English and reading out loud every word I repeat; Mimi was repeating-barking what I was saying while I was learning English with my dictionary (she was so funny.)😂 One of the bravest moments I spent with my dog Mimi was when in my town in México some thieves entered our house, she was the one who barked at them and woke us up, that's how we realized that they were stealing our things outside at dawn. There was something lying on the ground that mimi smelled and barked that was soap powder, one of the thieves had stolen clothes and a washing machine. My mother had bought big bags of soap powder and the thieves took them too, the funniest thing is what happened next; the large bag of soap had a very large hole which made it fall and when they stole all the soap it was thrown all the way until it could be seen up to two blocks away.😂Mimi sniffed everything and we followed the soap, it reached the thieves' house, we called the police and all the things were in that house and the police took them thanks to Mimi and the big bag of soap that was thrown, it was obvious that the thieves They were very stupid, it was either that or they were also drunk when they did this and the police caught them. Me and my family didn't know whether to feel sorry or laugh about the soap bag that gave them away.🤣

The Will of a Guinea Pig
I was lucky enough to grow up around a decent array of animals like our family dogs and a handful of cats. As well as some beta fish that were a constant staple in my young life. That was until an extremely extraordinary creature found his way into my life, my interest in animals never stopped at the conventional cat, dog, or fish.
