It’s Time To Stop Watching Other People’s Lives
I am guilty of spending too much time on social media watching other people live their lives! I don’t know about you, but I find it too easy to get sucked into the reality stream of social media. I then find myself dreaming about living their lives, having their lovely houses, cars or wardrobes and then when I finally pull myself away from it all. I am left feeling deflated and flat, and even sad.

How YouTube Broke Me Out Of My Shell
YouTube has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. During middle and high school, I would come home, watch Tyler Oakley and gush over Joey Graceffa’s vlogs. And in college, I found creators like Caitlin Shoemaker and Maddie Lymburner whose videos taught me about veganism and helped make the lifestyle transition a little easier.

I Am Not a Robot
I was listening to ‘I am not a robot’ by Marina & the Diamonds the other day, and it got me thinking about the metaphorical masks that we wear to hide our emotional scars, left by circumstance and experience. Our feelings and emotions have been largely ignored, and we are too afraid to bring them to light, especially since there has been an emphasis on wearing these ‘masks’ during the last two decades. Thanks to social media and how western society currently operates, we now live in a somewhat narcissistic society. But it is not our fault that we possess these traits of narcissism. The subtle conditioning from social media platforms and our reliance on the rise in technology has slowly altered people’s way of thinking and the way we behave. The focus has moved from ‘us’ to the individual. The conditioning of comparison, competition, fear, and a desire to be adored and liked has been ingrained into our brains. From a Darwinian perspective, our primitive brain would understand that this is a possible survival tactic, so conforming to this new set of behavioral rules will establish one’s survival and evolution.

3 Key Ways Social Media Distorts Our Perception of Beauty
The definition of beauty is one of the most divisive, diverse, and debated topics in the world’s history. There is an argument as old as time, of whether or not “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Some believe that beauty is completely subjective, and thus merely exists in the minds of those who contemplate it. Others argue that if beauty is subjective, then the word beauty has no meaning and that nothing is beautiful as a result.

How to Deal with Social Media Criticism
Listen up, guys! The internet is a source for endless entertainment and information for sure. It’s a place for people to connect from all over the world on social media platforms which anyone would agree is awesome. After all, these means of communication offer a window into the lives of celebrities, politicians, minority groups and the general population, and when used correctly they can strengthen the bonds between humans. However, just like nobody is perfect, neither is the social media which has evolved into a platform where many people are compelled to start discourse. A quick scroll through Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, or Reddit will quickly reveal that social media has become a breeding ground for toxic behaviors and harsh criticisms.
