New upcoming film company from Grand Rapids aims to be different within the community
Studio 47 is a film & photography company based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Owned by Joe Watkins and Back Street Films. Based in and around Grand Rapids has showed many people who love film that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Growing up I would play with my moms camera taking pictures and videos outside. I loved going outside and watching the birds fly around or going to the beach and watching the sunset. I knew from there that I would want to do film, many people doubted me because getting in that industry is a challenge. That didn’t stop me from chasing my dream of directing my own movie or series. I always wanted to do something different in the world and make a difference, I knew that film would help me get there by showing people the world through my eyes. I enjoy film making because it sets me apart from the crowd it gives you endless possibilities, you can start with little to no gear to using high tech gear all with little experience. I not only love film it’s my passion and i want to change the world with it. Everyone thinks that you have to have lots of money to make good content that is not true. I started from the bottom by shooting some videos with my friend with a $20 camera and worked my way up to shooting and directing a music video with high quality gear. I’m different as a film maker because the little things are what count I put every attention of detail into my work. I shoot and edit each piece as its own and create a work of art. It’s more than just film it’s growing closer with clients and getting to know them for more than who they are. In 5 years I see myself directing my own films for Netflix and other companies. That’s a long shot but hard work and dedication are what counts. I know that it will take long days and endless shots before I become perfect and good enough for Netflix to recognize my work. That won’t stop me from trying to do my best and making good content that brings people closer to film. I understand that not everyone makes it in the industry and some people do but that should not stop you from setting out to create content. Who knows what will happen you may think it’s not the best but if you use the right tools you may get the attention of someone who’s big in the industry. Aside from that I bring endless ideas to the film industry I write down every movie or scene idea I think of down in my notes. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with an awesome plot or story and I just have to add it to my notes. There is not right or wrong way to do film and that’s why I strive to show people that anyone can do it if you have a positive attitude and use your imagination. I don’t want to be remembered for fame or for money or for directing that one show or movie, I want to be remembered for making a difference in someone’s life big or small. I want people to know that I was more than just a director I was a person who had a passion for film and for helping people. I want to end this one one note that don’t let the world stop you from doing what you want to do, whether it’s film or something your passionate about not matter what keep grinding and keep going the hard work will pay off.

Get to know musically gifted Kevlar siickk
What’s your name and where are you from? My artist name is Kevlar siickk. What inspired me to create that name was my hardcore, unique, aggressive, and bulletproof rap style that is relentlessly filled with energy and originality. Also, I wanted to separate myself from modern-day rappers by giving myself an uncommon name such as Kevlar Siickk. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, which I created a nickname for, which is called Mafia city. I'm sure that the name is self-explanatory due to everyone already knowing the history of the Las Vegas City.

Meet Naye Songz
My name is Naye Songz and I am a Hip-Hop/R&B artist and Serial Entrepreneur from Memphis, TN who is ready to set the music industry on fire with my blend of soulful style and mature vibes. Growing up, I used music as a means to escape all of the pressures of life. I was bullied in elementary school a lot and I struggled with coming out to my family in regard to my sexuality so music was an escape for me. Music was the only I could truly be myself and express my feelings. After noticing that I did not hear many female artists in the male-oriented hip hop played on the radio, I became infatuated with the likes of Anita Baker, Queen Latifah, Gangsta Boo, Lil Chat, and Missy Elliot, among others. I also remember my mom used to walk around the house singing Whitney Houston and I would just sit there and listen like wow, I would to be able to sing like that one day. From there, I wrote my first song when I was 13 years old entitled Ms. Sally Walker. The song was based on a game my cousins and I played during that time. I recorded the song using my cassette tape player and my karaoke machine. I played the song for my parents and siblings, and from that moment on music became a bigger part of my life. Since then, music has been ranked on various music charts and I also started a business outside of music. I own a Lifestyle Clothing Brand called Sizzle Season (better known as Sizzle Szn), a TV/Film Production Company, as well as several other companies. The purpose of Sizzle Szn is to motivate individuals no matter where they are on their journey. We encourage people to always “Start Strong. Stay Strong. Finish Strong. I also recently started a podcast show entitled Elevation Talks. The purpose of the podcast is to inspire individuals that are struggling to reach either personal or career goals. Throughout each video, I drop key gems that will propel individuals to their next level. As Serial Entrepreneur, in 5 years I see myself still elevating, inspiring people, and continuing to expand the global reach of my brands and investments. I would love to continue to inspire the world in many different ways and secure all the many blessings that come with that. The music I create is completely timeless, a substance that most music today lacks. In my opinion, many artists today spend countless studio hours creating a record that won’t be irrelevant in 6 months or a year. If artists spent more time creating music with more value, they wouldn’t have to constantly release new music and projects to stay relevant. Recently, I had a show and I only performed two songs. The records that I selected are like three or four years old and the crowd was rocking to my music as if it was a newly released single. I will say that Bruno Mars is a great example of creating timeless music and evolving. He isn’t afraid to switch up his music style or image. I want to be remembered for inspiring people through my music, brands, videos, and elevation talks. Although, I am not currently releasing any new music. I am working on a few of my own TV shows and films. I might do a few more shows too. Follow me @naye_songz on all social media platforms to learn more about me.
