Savoring the Moments
I absolutely LOVE scrapbooking! Of all the creative things that I like doing, scrapbooking is hands down my favorite. Do you know what scrapbooking is? Scrapbooking is a 2.5-billion-dollar industry. There are over 3,000 scrapbooking stores nationwide in the United States, serving 25 million scrapbookers. For those who don’t know, scrapbooking is a way to preserve photographs and other memorabilia in books instead of digitally or worse yet, in an old shoebox somewhere. Full disclosure – I am a Creative Memories consultant, mainly because I love the enduring quality of their products. However, none of that explains why I am a scrapbooker. Simply put, scrapbooking connects me to the past, preserves the present and reminds me of God’s presence, provision and promises in my life. Scrapbooks help me to remember that my life has been and is beautiful.

A Beautifully Flawed State of Imperfection
I carefully wrap thread around the needle and push it back through the fabric, gently holding the thread to guide it into a perfect French knot. What results is a tangled blob with random loops shooting out every which way. Definitely not French.

Capture the Wind
I take a deep breath, wrap my hands around the ball of clay and press down on the pedal. It is late at night or early in the morning, and if I am really fortunate, a daytime visit to the studio. The clay jerks my arms in rhythm with the rotation. My palms press firmly into the top and side surfaces of the clay.

Ms. Sunshine
There’s a scratched up, medium-sized table in my bedroom. It stands next to my bed, and beneath that is my pink yoga mat. Pink is my second favorite color (I think we all have more than one favorite type). Yellow comes first for me. Thus there is Ms. Sunshine.

Repeat.
I've always been drawn to pattern: pulled towards the drift of a passing stranger's dress, the promise of beauty beyond shop windows, or dancing shadows cast on the ground. It's something about the colours, the complexity, the stories I could create about that person, or that place. The desire to capture and own them. If only I could spend all day wrapped in the joy I found in them, handle them, make beautiful things from them. So I made it happen. I took patterns, I made them into beautiful things, I shared that joy with strangers. How could that be anything but the straightest route to happiness?

Airplane building
One of my earliest memories as a child included taking family vacations to Florida every summer. Getting on airplanes at an early age meant an adventure was ahead. I looked forward to shopping for toys and clothes. I could not wait to eat at restaurants that were not readily accessible in my hometown. It was always a pleasure to enjoy the local theme parks with my cousins who lived in West Palm Beach, FL.

How Merging Creativity & Activism Can Bring Awareness To Climate Change
As a young girl, I was enthralled by the clickerty click of my grandma's knitting needles, as she created a new winter wardrobe of jumpers, hats and scarfs sat peacefully by the fireside in the evening hours. Like many, I was taught the basics of knit one, cast one yet never mastered the art myself.
