Asylum Psycho

Made from a curtain, two buckets, two trash grabbers, tacks and fake fingernails...

Asylum Psycho

Where to even begin... Over the years I’ve definitely evolved creatively and I must say watching other creators has helped my mind with this domino effect of ideas that tumble into some of my best work. Although social media platforms could be used in a very negative way, I truly believe I have mastered ignoring most of which does not make me a better individual (mind, body and soul).

The most important aspects I would consider as “adding” would be to my knowledge base or engaging with accounts that give me a different perspective worth pondering over. Now when it comes down to creativity I could literally grasp this from anywhere and apply it to my work or costumes. Not sure if everyone is like this, but while watching a movie or walking down the street I can see something and immediately my brain attaches that view with something I was thinking about creating or already working on. Adding to an already interesting idea is probably the best part of the process. Especially when you finally link all of the pieces of the puzzle together, which eventually becomes your own little or BIG masterpiece.

In all honestly, I get super bummed out when I believe I’m the first to think or make a vision come to life and I see it somewhere made by someone else. I’m sure we can all relate to that as well.

While I feel we all have a little artist living within our hearts, we let life and work take over, hence neglecting to explore our passions. With over 20 years experience in the corporate world and raising two children on my own, I wasn’t able to really enjoy life the way I do now. Parents know no matter how old your kids become your job is never done. This being said, I’m still a very involved as a parent, but the financial burden isn’t completely and solely on me now. With financial freedom comes the best part of your life. My family is no where close to rich in material things, BUT we are super wealthy in spirit and health. This should really be considered the new healthy and wealthy lifestyle everyone should want to achieve in life.

I am able to dibble and dabble in anything and everything now. This free lifestyle allows me to take my objectives to the next level creatively.

My daughter has also become very in tune with her artistic inner being. Now we are able to calaberate and bounce ideas off one another, which also streams in a ton of new visions. With such a tough year, I hope many of us have been able to visit the side of ourselves where we can express not only in words but in a photo, painting, drawing, poem, song, book, sewing, etc... The options are endless and rewarding. Beyond feeling great and accomplished art is very therapeutic and happens to be a form of meditation for most of us. Once you get in that zone, you literally forget all of your problems and only care to focus on your current task and goal.

In conclusion, art has become a very big part of my life once again and I’m excited to learn as much as I possibly can while turning around and paying it forward to family, friends, and heck anyone who aspires to inspire on every level of life they encounter. I can only hope that me writing this and sharing a bit of my story someone stubbles upon it and decides to just do it. Whatever it might be, just go in head first and remember tomorrow is never promised. Love and live today like you have never done before.

Good luck to everyone entering and whomever happens to read this all the way to the end... I wish you the best life has to offer and nothing less!
