Today
Saturday. 7am. Alarm rings. I’m quick to spring out of bed, but that’s only to snooze the alarm and return to the fleeting warmth trapped under the blankets. 9 minutes later again the alarm rings. A pernicious cycle of getting up only to return immediately continues until 7:55 am. Admitting defeat, I knew I couldn’t snooze again. I growled walking to my desk. A mere 20 feet from my bed to the chair where I would spend the next 9 hours of my life wishing I was dead. I never was a coffee person. I sometimes wonder if that’s why the mornings always felt extra rough, though I wasn’t a fan of the jitteriness alternative either.

Between Cigarettes
Darcy took a long drag of her Camel Light. She blew it out, and watched the smoke fly away from Al’s Fryin’ Pan. She had been working the graveyard shift at that twenty-four-hour greasy spoon for almost twenty years. A little more than a third of her fifty-five years on this on this earth.

The Retail Stigma
Retail: long hours, little pay, terrible work environment… best job ever? Retail has a stigma of being a less than stellar career field, a place to get your feet wet, a job to pay the bills until something better comes along. I ask you to think long and hard about your last visit to the mall, big box retailer or even the grocery store, now picture yourself working a register, how does it make you feel?

New Account, New Adventure
Well, when I started my journey with my original account here on vocal I thought that I'd be there forever, but once I learned that because of some personal reasons that I would not be able to change the information on my old stripe account without engaging with someone from my past that is dangerous and toxic - well here I am. New account, new me I guess. That's just how its going to have to go isn't it? I have no other choice, am going to miss my old articles, and on the revenue I could be getting from those articles. Heck, a $20.00 tip went straight to my ex. I didn't see a penny of it. Ah, well. At least I hadn't gotten very popular.

TO MY DARLING STOREKEEPERS
I see you when I walk into the store. You stock away at those shelves so dutifully. You appear oblivious to the current pandemic. Not because you don't care but because you have chosen to play your part. Oh, and that smile that comes like the cherry on the cake. Thank you.

Doom on Grooms
The life of a groom is never an easy one, but for some of us, it's a good option when you want to work in a stable, see some competitions, and maybe have some riding lessons. You work a hard schedule with overwhelming workloads, little money, and enough stress to make you want to die. Here are some helpful things you need to know about working as a groom before you decide to work as a groom in Germany. Although I’m sure these are things that can apply to working as a groom in any country, my experience has primarily been in Germany and bit in America.

On Writing Atmosphere and Archetypes - The Violet Project Diaries - Entry 16
Before my writing session, I had to watch a little Jenna Moreci, a bestselling author who gives wonderful, if not sarcastic, writing advice. My favorite quote from this video: “All fantasy should be based off of medieval Europe because it’s the law.”
