What Happened to the Creative Process?
Am I the only one who feels like the romance of a “creative process” is kind of dead in 2021? Gone are the days of Hemingway drinking whiskey and muttering to himself at his typewriter, of Henry Miller working “calmly, joyously, recklessly on whatever is in hand”. A quick google search will reveal about a thousand ways to figure out your creative process, but almost all of them will say something along the lines of “figure out what environment works for you, sit down, and write!”.

Reflections on My First Month
I admit that I had some concerns about Vocal prior to joining a month ago. I asked a friend who is an award-winning, professional writer if he thought that Vocal was a scam. He said he didn’t take part in “pay to play” contests, but that he didn’t think that Vocal was "a scam exactly," but that they didn’t adhere to some industry standards for length and genre. Nonetheless, I was drawn by that $20,000 “doomsday challenge” prize and already had a story outlined in my head. I decided that I would pay for a YEAR MEMBERSHIP in advance, and force myself to write something for all of their writing challenges for twelve months. I really liked the writing prompts, and the deadlines “forced” me to be disciplined in my writing for the first time.

Some gynecologists become obstetricians, doctors who are trained to monitor pregnancy and deliver babies, earning the title of OB/GYN. Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) are closely connected. Both words refer to the health and pregnancy of female reproductive organs. Obstetricians are the same as gynecologists.
