The Incident: A Night Out Gone Wrong Okay. So, I left my phone in the Lyft after going to a party in Harlem, New York. I went home, got out the lyft, and noticed as I entered my space that I didn't have my phone. So, I quickly telephoned a friend who was still at the party in Harlem to inquire about the whereabouts of the phone and he said he didn't see it but that he will ask the owner of the club to ask where it is. I decided fi drop a sleep and wait until the morning fi see wah gwaan. Meanwhile, before I go to sleep too, I message Lyft to ask about the phone and to see if they can get in contact with the driver and they are so unresponsive. They didn't reply to me for a while. Then, the next day when I'm in class I text my friend on iMessage on my computer and ask him fi check di phone location. So, he replied back to me and told me that my phone location says it's in the Bronx in some apartments on Kingsbridge Ave. Him gimme di address and a seh it deh inna one apartment building pon di right side.

The Ransom of Red Chief
Part 1: The Brainstorming and the Snatch It looked like a good thing: but wait till I tell you. We were down South, in Alabama—Bill Driscoll and Me when this kidnapping idea struck us. It was, as Bill afterward expressed it, “during a moment of Temporary mental apparition”; but we didn’t find that out till later. There was a town down there, as flat as a flannel-cake, and called Summit. It contained inhabitants of as Undeleterious and self-satisfied a class of peasantry as ever clustered around a Maypole. Bill and I needed capital. We had a fraudulent town-lot scheme of ours down there that we wanted to pull off, but we needed a little ready money. So, one evening we kidnapped the son of old Dorsey, from Summit.

The Coffee Paradox
I found myself in trouble yesterday. Then it was that I found myself at a coffee house — one of those “upscale” places you know? The kind of place where you walk in and feel you should be reading Dostoevsky while spending the equivalent of your phone bill. Either way, I’m standing in line pretending to be one of them, not knowing that I’m seconds away from a decision that will change my life indefinitely — fine, at least my morning. I arrive at the counter and the barista, clearly someone who’s had more training in coffee than I will ever receive in anything for the rest of my life, looks up at me, “What can I get for you today?”
