A Week Alone
Day 1 It happened. We broke up. It wasn’t planned, but we fell out and instead of shouting at each other and stomping off in annoyance, we actually talked it out and decided that this relationship is unhealthy. We love each other, but recently we’ve been hating each other a lot more. But do you know what? I feel great. I feel so relieved. I don’t have to answer to anyone, the sun is shining, and I can wear that dress he hates. I’m off to the park for a barbecue and then drinks with my flatmates. I’m excited for what’s to come.

I read somewhere the average woman had an average of four sexual partners—and you won’t believe it—that statistic isn’t per year... it's per lifetime. Wonder what that says about me—I had three just last month alone. Guess my sexual appetite is as large as my appetite for food. Luckily, sex has no calories. Sometimes I really think I could use a chastity belt, clearly self control is not my strong suite. My vagina seems to decide my evenings’ fate for the both of us. My brain’s really a pushover, always being punked by my heart and now my vagina, too.

'I'm Really Into You But...'
I'm 23 and the number of conversations I've had online with people I do not know probably surpassed the three-digit figure some time ago. Hundreds of matches and meaningless conversations later, I finally find another human being that I want to sustain a conversation with. That is where the problems really begin because once you start to get to know a person, you want to know more and I want to know more. After having had numerous conversations with him, meeting up and deciding to hang out sometime again and finally accepting and being assured that he was in fact into me, it happened. "I'm really into you but..." That's right, he'd gone out on a date and went home with somebody else. But that is okay, right? Because what can I say? I cannot say that I'm unhappy, or hurt, or that he should not have done it, because we aren't together. What is worse, he told me he was so into me that he thought I deserved the respect and honesty he had given me by actually informing me that he had done this. Was I angry? Yes. Did I cry? Yes. Did I still want to get to know him more and spend time with him? Yes. Unfortunately, I did.

There's a stigma in our society around being single, as if one is incomplete without a partner. It's often met with a kind of sympathy that suggests there's something terribly wrong with it, and subconsciously we buy into that belief. We find it difficult to appreciate our aloneness, and spend a great deal of time and energy searching for companionship, while at the same time feeling as if we're inadequate without someone to balance us, to fulfill us, to compensate for all the things we feel we're lacking in ourselves. Sometimes we're willing to be with anyone rather than be alone. And so there's such a desperation about it that we don't always choose with discernment. It's like we're in a rush and there's no time to waste.

The Ultimate Uber Experience
Welcome to 2018, where at the touch of your finger, you can hail a ride from a complete stranger. That stranger is me. I was driving for Uber in my spare time, mainly for entertainment, but the extra cash didn’t hurt. To be quite honest, I’m actually the worst Uber driver, although my ratings wouldn’t confirm that. I constantly get people lost but I distract them with jokes and my Bostonian charm, so it’s like they never even know. And somehow I pulled through with a 4.9. I love just chatting to people about whatever it is that they bring up. I’m a great listener and sometimes, people just really need and would like to talk about themselves. I was there for it. I was getting paid for it. And I loved it.
