What began as a simple vacation photo has now transformed into a tourist attraction drawing thousands of visitors and dog lovers eager to see a mountain that resembles a giant canine resting by the Yangtze River. The story of Puppy Mountain began when Guo Qingshan a designer from Shanghai visited his hometown of Yichang in Hubei province in late January. While reviewing his photos from a hiking trip he noticed an uncanny resemblance between one of the mountains and a dog’s head. The formation which sits at the river’s edge appears as though the dog is either drinking from the water or quietly watching over the river. Fascinated by the discovery Guo shared his photo on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu captioning it Puppy Mountain.
