Hostage House Review
Move aside, Hollywood blockbusters; the independent film community is coming back strong! Hostage House, directed by David Benullo, was just released to Netflix, and proves that you don’t need flashy effects or loud car chases to make an entertaining film. Sometimes, all you need is a handful of talented actors, a beautiful house, and a cameraman and director who know what they’re doing (i.e no shaky cam THANK GOD!)

Widows should be respected and not preyed upon
In the movie THE FIVE HEARTBEATS, the character Big Red (Hawthorne James) attends the funeral of Jimmy Potter ( Chuck Patterson) the man that he had murdered. If that were not bad enough after viewing the body he goes over to Jimmy's grieving widow Eleanor (Diane Carroll) and instead of offering condolences, he propositions her right there in the church. Eleanor is so outraged that she slaps him in the face. This is one of those movie moments that remain in the psyche of many who watched this film.

My New York Year (2021) - Film Review
Rarely has a film genuinely spoke to me as a writer like this film has - I’m still gutted I missed the cinema screening, but renting this film from home was totally worth the cinema ticket price. My New York Year is based on the memoir My Salinger Year of poet and novelist Joanna Rakoff, a college graduate who took a clerical job working for the literary agent of the renowned, reclusive writer J.D. Salinger in 1995.
