friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
What No One Tells You When You Lose Your Best Friend. Top Story - July 2019.
A few weeks into March of 2017, I got a phone call from my oldest/longest standing friend I have to date. Andrew Swain and I met in middle school when we were 11 years old and are still friends to this day, 20 years later. We rarely talk on the phone, if ever, and mainly keep in touch when I go back home to Colorado every year or so. I remember being at the dog park with Maya when I saw Andrew’s name come up on my phone. My mind always immediately thinks the worst and this time was no different. “Andrew’s calling me, this can’t be good,” I thought to myself. And it wasn’t.

Friendships
Having friends, being a friend, and friendships are arduous for me. Oftentimes I see myself feeling annoyed, judging, or comparing myself to the friendships I have experienced. In this moment I counted on my hands how many women I could truly say to myself have been a friend to me, whether our relationship is intact or transformed for us to go our separate ways. The number is under 10 women, and before I would think how lame of me to not have an overwhelming amount of friends or people that know me. As I have gotten older I see my relationship to women in friendships have been a struggle because of the relationship to my mother. Although my relationship with my mother has changed in ways that support us, I continue to come to a road block with some of the women I choose to bring in my life as friends.

I'm the Girl Who Sucks at Making - and Keeping - Friends, and I'm Fine with That
In high school, it’s pretty common to have a very “friend-centric” life. After all, seeing your friends every day is the one thing that actually makes school worth going to. You can’t imagine spending a Friday night without them, or making any major decision, like whether or not to ask out that cute boy in your chemistry class, or dye your hair purple, without consulting them first. They’re such a huge part of your life that if you were to lose any of them, it would feel as if everything was falling apart.

Hello World
For the first time in my life, I've decided to step out of the shadows. This is the most frightening experience of my life, next to giving birth, but that's a story for another time. I've always spent my time focusing on what I was told would be best and just doing what I was good at. I've given myself freely to my friends, family, and strangers, sometimes leaving nothing for myself. I spent the first 20 years of my life focused on education, so I could get a good paying job and provide a worry free life for myself. "Worry Free," HA! Seems like a joke now that I'm in my thirties.

The "Friend"
Hello guys, and welcome to my first story. The story I am about to give you is about one of my favorite words "Friends." Friendship is a relationship that you have with people you have known for some time, or since the beginning of your time. Friendships are meant to be sacred, trustful, and most times full of lots of fun, but sometimes as being in the real world, friends don't always last. You my lose contact with that person: they could have lost your phone number, or you they are just too busy with other things, but there is one thing about the real world that makes me sad to realize; that they may have never been your friend to begin with.
