Out of control
It was a rather mysterious morning at the Coldspring, quiet even, Only Fresh air brought by the wind from an endless lake Livingston caressed the nearby trees. This unsually peaceful place gave me time to rest in solitude, simply wrapped by its green grey beauty and stillness. I needed to keep going, the weather in a place like this could be whymsical I thought, besides I made a promise to myself to be in Houston today.

The valley was lit with the full moon's light and covered with a blanket of silence that was a signature of winter nights in this quiet countryside. The giant hay bales appeared like golden nuggets in the vast field which was otherwise barren, awaiting its sowing season.

Three Eyes
The Meeting: It’s a cold night, and a fresh blanket of snow covered the ground. I could feel the air from the unsealed window creeping through tickling me awake. I opened my eyes, heart dancing with anxiety as if I was waking up for school late but it was only 2:34am. I sit up from my bed and stare out into the darkness of my room trying to ignore the ominous feeling. It wasn’t working. I got out of bed to try to pacify the initial situation of the cold wind sneaking through. I mustered up the courage to slide out of bed to secure the window. I approached the window and jiggled it shut tight. I couldn’t help but to stare out into the night sky. The stars were beautiful and shining bright with the moon. The country night sky wasn’t shrouded by city lights and high rises. The corn fields rose high enough to make you just slightly uncomfortable. As I studied the stars a figure catches my eye. I stare out into the darkness to see it again and it was...gone. I looked a little bit longer before having to give up. As I turned away I heard a voice in my head..,”Don’t look again, you don’t want to know .” I felt sweat start to drop down my neck even though my room was freezing, I turned my head to look at the window again and there the figure was waiting for my gaze. I could only see a dark figure the size of a large bird hovering near my window, until I saw 3 eyes blink. I jumped away from the window almost tripping over my slippers. What bird has three eyes? That’s the first thought that came into my mind. I backed away and sat on my bed praying I was dreaming. I closed my eyes and counted to 10 hoping it would of disappeared. 1...2.....3....4....5...6..7..8..9.10. I pop my eyes open clenching my pillow. It was still there hovering and staring at me expectingly. I locked eyes with the figure and I felt taken over. My body suddenly approached the window and before I understood what I was doing I opened the latch and began to pull the window up to let the figure in. I could feel my hands shaking but I couldn’t control what I was doing. Tears of fear streamed down my face as I backed away to my bed and away from the opened window. The figure entered my room and with a black poof an owl with three red eyes appeared and sat in front of the window on my floor gazing at me as if I had something to tell him. I was overtaken by it’s eyes.

Not a Barn Owl A fire conversation I’m pretty sure I met a barn owl once. It was on an epic night with my girlfriend of the time. I’ve always been proud of my sexual prowess. The Pendant
Everything in my hotel room was the picture of a tornado that had just passed and laid to waste a non-smoking room with a view of the Luxor hotel and Las Vegas Blvd. below. Oh, how I wish I could tell you it was passionate love making, but there was no after-the-fact smell, and the hanging question of whether this meant something or was it all just good fun was never asked. Writhing on the floor, with my head throbbing, and focusing with eyes learning how to see again, I can only stare at a broken necklace strap that once held a glass owl pendant, relaxing on plush executive carpet, whose every strand seemed to massage all its curves.

The Prophecy
The Prophecy: Light in the Shadows by Sara Naeem What is keeping a romantic connection from manifesting into my life? Is there a block? Is it a curse? Is there something I’m not seeing? Do I need to do something differently? A quarter of a century years old and still single to this day. I need answers. It’s late at night and I’m sitting down to read tarot as the snow falls from the cloudy sky. As I shuffle my tarot deck, I feel eyes piercing into the back of my head. I know there’s nothing directly behind me, but I still turn around to look out my back door behind me. No one. Nothing. After I finish asking the cards my questions, a bunch of them fall out on the table in front of me. I sit there staring at them, utterly confused. The cards are showing me fear, stress, restriction and torment while simultaneously showing me love, abundance, joy and healthy, flowing emotion. I’m trying to decipher the message being conveyed to me through Divine Source. It’s my own energy I tapped into, after all. I should know. I decide to give up and find myself getting up to head to bed instead. On the way to my room, I randomly glance at the time on my oven and see 11:11PM. I think nothing of it and fall asleep.

Baby
All was peaceful at the farm. The spring lambs had merrily skipped their way into the barn at sunset and were snuggled with their woolly parents sleeping peacefully. The dogs were bedded down in soft hay next to the door, resting after a long day. In the little house past the little garden, Father was dozing by the fire while Mother finished her mending. Baby slept in her cradle.

The figure from the closet
Growing up in Harvey—a Chicago suburb—was as good as it could get for a young girl like myself. My family and I weren't filthy rich nor were we dirt poor. My carpenter father and nurse mother (who worked the night shift and slept during the day) did the best they could to give us a safe and happy life, even in a less than savory neighborhood. But my perspective at the age of 8 was a tad bit different. I loved my town and I adored my friends.

The Owl and the Leshen
The sound of a tree, moving by its own will, haunted the woods that night. The wind always seemed to bring a swift, inescapable chill, but this night felt different. Whilst the cold remained, pure sorrow and rage quieted the earth. Nearby, a village had been constructed right outside of the forest path, and the woods resented man: conquerer of the earth.
