John Gray's definition of "The Moment of Freedom" has been adopted by many authors, poets, philosophers, and even psychologists because it captures what they feel in their lives. Freedom is one of the core values in western society. Many of our most important philosophical ideas come from the idea or concept of freedom: free will, free market, free society, etc. From a young age, we are indoctrinated with the idea that freedom is a beautiful thing and something worth fighting for.
