5 Simple Pleasures Nigerians Appreciate More As They Age

There is a lot to appreciate all around you, but in the daily hustle and bustle of life especially in one's youth, one doesn't really take the time to appreciate the simple pleasures. Today, we'll be counting down based on conversations and revelations from Nigerians of varying ages, 5 simple pleasures they've grown to appreciate more as they've aged. 1. Handwritten Notes/Letters

A number of Nigerians have revealed that in today's digital world, the older they're getting, the more they appreciate receiving handwritten notes and letters. People have expressed getting emotional upon seeing handwritten texts from their loved ones, and reading these people's words in their own handwriting. This may be because handwritten letters often feel more personal and a lot more thoughtful than text messages. So, for the next birthday, anniversary, or whatever kind of celebration that's happening for a loved one, especially one that's getting older, think of writing them a handwritten letter. They just may appreciate it a lot more than you think.

2. Giving Gifts

This one is quite surprising but a number of Nigerians have expressed growing a bigger appreciation for giving gifts as opposed to receiving them. They express that there is something special about giving gifts. Many said that when they were younger, they loved unwrapping presents and receiving gifts from loved ones. But that now as they're growing older, they are experiencing a new joy from giving gifts to loved ones and seeing the joy and appreciation on their faces. Is this you? Do you agree?

3. Quiet.

One of the most echoed pleasures a number of people agreed upon is the gift of quiet. Peace and quiet. A number of Nigerians have expressed how with getting older, they find themselves turning off all televisions and handsets for extended periods of time just to enjoy the quiet. Some have even expressed a newfound love for sitting outside with fresh air, just to enjoy the peace and quiet. Is this something that's true for you too? Do you agree?

4. A Good Long and Deep Sleep

Hand in hand with quiet is the appreciation for good, long, and deep sleeps. This is maybe because as a person gets older and responsibilities pile, it gets harder and harder to carve out time to get very deep sleeps. Even at night time, it feels like the hours of sleep fly by and before one knows, the alarm is ringing and it is time again for yet another day's work. Sleep is one of the biggest simple pleasures that people of varying ages have cited as something they're appreciating more and more as they age. Do you agree?

5. Health

Finally on this list is health, the ultimate simple pleasure that people aging cite. There is a joint agreement that everyday a person wakes up and goes to sleep without any health challenge, complication, or simply just breath in one's lungs, it is more than enough reason to be thankful. We all know that as the human body ages, it becomes more and more prone to weakness and illness. So good health is definitely the most paramount simple pleasure for everybody as they continue to age.
