"The Room That Should Never Be Opened"

In a small, isolated village, there stood an old mansion known for its dark and mysterious aura. Everyone in the village talked about a particular room in the house—a room that no one could open. Generations passed, and the story turned into a legend, leaving the house empty and abandoned.

Yousef, a young adventurer with a passion for exploring abandoned places, heard about the mansion and its locked room. He felt an irresistible urge to visit the village despite repeated warnings.

On a chilly autumn day, Yousef arrived at the village. The air was filled with the scent of fallen leaves, and the sky was blanketed with gray clouds. An elderly man stopped Yousef in front of the village café and asked,
“Why are you here?”

Yousef smiled and replied, “I heard about the mysterious house. I want to see the locked room for myself.”

The old man’s face turned pale as he whispered,
“Don’t go near that house. No one who entered it ever came back the same.”

But Yousef ignored the warning. He thanked the man and continued on his way. The house stood atop a small hill, surrounded by a broken fence and dry, lifeless trees. When he arrived, he noticed the windows were covered in dust, and the front door was weathered and cracked.

He pushed the door gently, and it creaked open, as if the house had been expecting him. He stepped inside cautiously, lighting his flashlight. The walls were covered in faded paintings, and the furniture was draped with white sheets, adding an eerie sense of abandonment.

Yousef began exploring the rooms, searching for any clue about the locked room. He found an old painting hanging on the wall, depicting a golden key. He felt as though the painting was trying to tell him something. After rummaging through drawers, he found a key that resembled the one in the painting. Its surface was cold and rough, as if it had been untouched for decades.

Holding the key tightly, he resumed his search. After an hour of wandering, he found himself in a narrow corridor on the upper floor, where a wooden door stood. The door looked different from the others, carved with strange symbols. The carvings seemed to shimmer faintly under the dim light, almost alive.

Yousef pulled out the key and inserted it into the lock. But just as he was about to turn it, he heard a faint whisper:
“Don’t open the door... This is not a place for humans.”

For a moment, he hesitated, but his curiosity overpowered his fear. Slowly, he turned the key. The door creaked open, protesting loudly as it did.

Beyond the door was not a typical room. It was a long corridor dimly lit by faint, flickering lights. The walls were covered in ancient writings in an unfamiliar language, their characters shifting slightly as he stared at them.

Yousef walked cautiously, feeling the air grow heavier with each step. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the sound of his own heartbeat.

At the end of the corridor, he found a large hall filled with enormous mirrors. Each mirror reflected a different version of Yousef. Some looked like him, but others moved independently, smiling or frowning without his prompting.

He approached one mirror, and his reflection smiled at him in an unsettling way. Suddenly, the reflection spoke:
“You shouldn’t have come. Now, you’ll never leave.”

Startled, Yousef stepped back as the mirrors began shattering one by one, the sound of breaking glass echoing around him. He turned to flee, but the corridor was gone.

Instead, he found himself in total darkness. There were no walls, no floor—just an endless void. Behind him, he heard footsteps.

When he turned, he saw someone who looked exactly like him, but paler, with glowing red eyes.

The doppelgänger spoke in a low, chilling voice:
“You were the key all along. Your presence here sets me free.”

Yousef tried to run, but his feet felt rooted to the ground. The doppelgänger stepped closer, an evil grin spreading across its face.

“Thank you for opening the door,” it said. “Now, I am free.”

In a sudden rush, the doppelgänger lunged at Yousef, and everything went black.

The next morning, Yousef woke up in his bed in the city. He thought it was all just a nightmare. But when he looked in the mirror, his reflection smiled back at him—just like in the mansion.
