The Books of the Salem Witch Trials
The Witch Trials of the 1600s During the late 1600s, there was a very popular theory going around that witches were living among the common folk. Many books were written, biographies were published and stories were told about the infamous witches of Salem, Massachusetts and other places along the east coast. Two of these books are The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare, and Witch Hunt: Mysteries of the Salem Witch Hunt, by Marc Aronson. In The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Barbados native Kit Tyler goes on a journey across the pond to live with her Aunt Rachel Wood. After being orphaned at a young age and then losing her grandfather, Rachel is the only living relative left of Kit’s. Kit arrives in Connecticut hoping to pursue finding her family, but she is unaware of the life that she has gotten herself into. Kit walks off of the sailboat that she journeyed in to America and walks straight into the Witch Trials. Things that would have been considered normal in Kit’s home in the West Indies are associated with witchcraft in Wethersfield. For example, she jumps off of the boat to retrieve a toy that a child had lost, which earns her appalled stares and much judgement. The Witch of Blackbird Pond follows Kit Tyler throughout a year of her new life in America. She is not accepted very warmly in her new home, and is far too quickly involved in a witch trial scandal. The novel leaves off with Kit planning her “escape,” or her way back to her home of Barbados. The non-fiction novel, Witch Hunt, takes a different approach to the witch trials. Providing real-life facts and events, Marc Aronson tells numerous stories of the victims that were a part of the Salem Witch Trials. Pictures and various graphics are scattered throughout the novel to give the reader a different perspective on the issue. While both novels, Witch Hunt and The Witch of Blackbird Pond, revolve around the same subject, the reader obtains a different perspective on the issue of the witch trials from each.

Why I Don't Watch Horror Movies
I never understood why people loved being scared or at least why some of my family members did. It's one thing for me to watch a movie with horror elements, but I can't watch horror movies like some of my family members and friends can; of course, I got made fun of for not liking them so, in a way, this is me saying why I can't really get into them.

Reasons Why Horror Movies Are Good for Your Health. Top Story - August 2018.
Turns out that your parents were wrong to ban scary films at your slumber parties because horror movies are good for your health. Yup. Stop covering your ears and hiding your eyes during the gory parts for the sake of your health. Some movies are worth getting scared by. A study put on by the University of Westminster uncovered results that suggest how much horror films can improve your mental, physical, and emotional health. Turns out that scary movie aficionados probably are equipped to survive a zombie apocalypse than everyone else. See how horror can affect your life, and you might become a fan, too.

Fascination of Horror
Growing up, I always had this love for the horror genre. I've watched movies like The Evil Dead, IT (1990), Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street; and played games like Resident Evil, Until Dawn, Outlast, The Evil Within, and Dead Space (many of these are franchises). Horror will always have a place in my heart because of the many beautys it has. It might seem a bit taboo that I see horror movies as beautiful because it's suppose to be the exact opposite of beautiful, but I digress. Overall, the horror genre might seem a bit stale but just read long enough and I might convince you that there are more to horror movies than blood and guts.

Top 10 Blogs & Websites for Horror Fans
Horror is one of those genres that people get obsessed with, big time. You can usually tell a horror fan right off the bat, because they will be the ones who suggest you buy them creepy gifts or insist on talking about Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. More often than not, they are pretty obsessive about it.

Horror of Lovecraft
To begin any discussion of H. P. Lovecraft, one must begin with an analysis of the times in which he lived, the times where science seemed to explain everything, when human knowledge was expanding at the greatest rate that it possibly could. Paradoxically, there are many parallels between the time of H. P. Lovecraft and our own modern times. While it is important to understand that the times back then were filled with great scientific promise, it is also important to understand the scientific backdrop to which he writes. Most important to the writing and understanding of H. P. Lovecraft's fiction is the eugenics movement, as his disdain for people of "lesser races" becomes rather apparent in short stories such as The Street, and make an appearance in his novella, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, an allegory in itself warning against racial mixture. It is possible to separate his writing from this eugenics movement, but it is impractical.

People Want to Take Religion Seriously
In the "there-are-no-atheists-in-foxholes" department, I recently rewatched William Friedkin's The Exorcist for perhaps the 12th time. I once again had my judgement confirmed that it is a great movie, one of the greatest, true to its convictions and willing to go where no movie before or since has gone. I mean, a young girl stabbing herself in the groin with a crucifix and yelling "Fuck her, Fuck her" and then pulling her own mother's face between her legs and saying "Lick me." Robert Mapplethorpe would have killed for such extreme performance art.
