We all have seen the news about the flood of illegal aliens crossing the southern border into our country. Hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions. We have lost control and our way of life is threatened. Several years ago, before that was happening, I bought a 100 acre ranch in Texas, right on the border, with the Rio Grande flowing past my southern boundary. I thought I was so lucky to have found this property and could live my dream.A Texas rancher, my young boy dream of being a cowboy. Oh man, be careful what you wish for!
I was at ground zero of this invasion. It started with a few irritating trespassing incidents and small thefts of propearth, tools, clothing, food from the freezer in my barn. And garbage scattered around the property. Discarded clothing, discarded food packaging. And then the peace and quiet being disrupted by low flying helicopters and visits by border patrol agents asking questions and asking permission to come onto my land. So irritating. Then a more serious incident happened when I was out in the field and my wife and my young child was accosted by four men who entered the farmhouse demanding food and water. They were very rough and belligerent, and they scared my wife very much. They left with what they wanted, and didn’t hurt anyone, but she was shaken.so was my son.
I called the sheriff, and he told me that incidents like that were happening more frequently now, that people from Mexico, Central America and South America with help from coyotes, paid human smugglers, usually cartel drug smugglers, are behind it. Not only are they smuggling the immigrants over the border, but smuggling drugs as well, and smuggling guns back into Mexico. The sheriff warned me to be vigilant and careful, that these are dangerous people. Now I too was shaken and scared.
first thing I did was take out my guns and teach my wife how to use them. She had resisted shooting before She was a hippie transplant from California, and was against guns, but now she wanted to. I was glad. My son was too young, but he pulled out his BB gun and I worked with him on aim, fields of fire, and defense strategies around the house. It was a start.
I also got with all my neighbors, and hosted a gathering, with beers and a barbecue grill, of course, and we talked about what was happening. We traded phone numbers and email addresses, and my wife started a facebook page for the neighborhood and gave the link to all the wives, so now we were all connected. I didn’t know anything was happening in the area, but from now on I planned to be involved.
Over the next few months the incidents of trespassers grew more frequent, and the local news and even the national news started to report almost on a daily basis, and the actual incidents grew worse. Thefts of vehicles, house break ins, rape, assaults, killings, until we felt threatened and trapped in our houses. And it didn’t help that the government was turning a blind eye to the thousands of illegals flooding the country. The border patrol was told to catch and release, even cartel gang members, ms 13 gang members, criminals. By the end of that administration, 4 years had gone by, and the area I lived in was not even recognizable, it was so flooded with illegal aliens, crime was off the charts, fentanyl was killing our young people up to 2,000 a day, nation wide. Gangs ruled the streets, even entire apartment complexes, and the police could do nothing. On my property, and my neighbors properties, when we went out to gather our cows, we would find dead bodies from starvation or thirst lying scattered all over, just left by the smugglers, discarded. Fences were smashed by trucks trying to escape capture by the border patrol agents attempting to capture them and their loads of drugs and human cargo, young children rented out by their parents to pretend they are a family to not be so suspicious.
‘Then the elections happened, and a new President was elected. The border was patrolled by the military and by the border patrol with new instructions to to catch and deport, or arrest, not release like the old administration for the last 4 years. Our nightmare was coming to an end. Almost overnight, the flood of illegal immigrants slowed down and stopped. No more trespassers on my land, no more dead bodies. No more fence repairs which cost me thousands of dollars to repair. No more thefts. No more worries that my family was in danger in our own house.
‘The invasion was over. The deportations began, with violent and criminal people being arrested all over the nation and either jailed for their crimes or flown to their home countries and jailed there. Our nation is saved.
the border fence was being built to stop the future flow of illegal immigrants and drugs coming over the border. The drug cartels were classified as terrorists, which gave law enforcment and the military more tools to fight the invasion from coming back. It’s not over, we have to be aware and ready to fight. All it took was the right leadership. And now we have it.
