I have a whole collection of Disney videos, and sometimes when I just enjoy watching the cartoon movies, I wonder how all these nasty villains don’t scare children out of their wits. I know even today when I enjoy a Disney adventures the villains certainly scare me.
Aladdin

If one guy could make you wish you never met him, that was Jafar, along with his nasty parrot, Iago. This guy was seriously devious, and it was through luck that Princess Jasmin got rid of him and got her guy, Aladdin.
Alice in Wonderland

I swear every time the nasty Queen of Hearts showered her ugly face and shouted, “Off with her head!” I wanted to smack her right in her face with a frying pan. Glad Alice escaped her.
The Aristocats

Madame Adelaide de Bonne Famille has a very mean and nasty butler named Edgar Balthazar. Her pride and joy in life is her family of white cats a mother, Dutchess, and three kittens, Berlioz, Marie, and Toulouse. When evil Edgar discovers that the cats are to inherit his employer's vast fortune, not him, he decides to try to drown the cats. Another movie where I was relieved to see a happy ending.
Beauty and the Beast

This movie did not have a typical villain but a very nasty and obnoxious person. He was one vain guy who was determined to get the beauty, Belle for himself. His favorite pastimes are drinking, smoking, and boasting about his hunting abilities in the local bar. He has the help of his best friend, LeFou. Luckily love finally conquered all.
The Black Cauldron

As much as this cartoon had some delightful characters like Hen Wen, the magical pig, I got the horrors from the Horned King. As a child I would have gotten nightmares. I mean, this was one nasty dude with the help of an ugly toad with a pegged leg named Creeper.
Cinderella

Never knew how Cinderella never lost her temper around her stepmother, the nasty and evil Lady Tremaine, and her daughters, Drusilla and Anastasia. These were the ugliest stepsisters I have ever seen. So glad that Cinderella kept her wits about her and got the prince.
The Great Detective

It was horrors when I saw that huge nasty-looking Ratigan. Such an evil nasty rat that had a fat cat as a pet and fed mice who didn’t obey him to the cat. Luckily Basil of Baker Street, one smart mouse, was able to foil Ratigan’s plans along with the help of Dr. Dawson. Ratigan was meant to be the rat version of James Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes in the mice version.
Hercules

The dark side of the underworld was ruled by Hades with his sidekicks Pain and Panic. I tell you, you saw this guy with the fire on his head, you got a headache, and you panicked. After unsuccessfully killing off Hercules as a baby, he got a girl named Megara to help him. He was motivated to be so nasty because of his jealousy of big brother Zeus.
The Jungle Book

I could never forget that nasty snake called Kaa, who was helping that very nasty tiger, Shere Khan. Now Shere Khan would have killed Mowgli, the man-cub, because he hated people, but it sure was lucky that he was afraid of fires and got his due like he deserved.
The Lion King

Nasty Uncle Scar, who was jealous of and despised his brother Mufasa, the king. He thought he was better and as a result killed his brother and left his brother’s little son, his own nephew, Simba, to think that he had killed his father. Quite a dramatic scene with a wildebeest stampede and Mufasa falling beneath the running wildebeests. Scar then sends three hyenas after the fleeing Simba to do away with him as well, but they cannot catch him.
The Little Mermaid

The little mermaid Ariel had to watch her step around the fat, mean, and revengeful giant octopus, who is a nasty sea witch called Ursula. She is helped by two electric eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, in her evil doings. Any merpeople she dislikes, she turns them into little sea bugs and eats them.
Peter Pan
One nasty and colorful character that steps on your last nerve has to be Captain Hook with that awful hook in place of his hand. (pictured above) Every moment he got, he was trying to attack Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. He seeks revenge because Peter Pan chopped off his hand and fed it to a crocodile. I say he should have thrown the pirate into the croc’s mouth. Luckily Peter Pan was helped by the fairy Tinkerbell, and in the end the nasty captain was chased away with the croc racing after him.
The Princess and the Frog

Now this guy, the nasty voodoo man, really scared me, and I’m not a kid anymore. So I think he could give some kid nightmares. Used his black magic to his advantage and is the only Disney villain to actually kill a major character, Cajun Firefly, Ray. Doctor Facilier was also clever in calling demon forces and controlling shadows.
Sleeping Beauty

The sorceress with a black heart, Maleficent. She could scare most anyone; I mean, who would put a curse on a baby girl at her christening? Oh, yeah, she was mean and nasty, bestowing the gift of death on baby Aurora. The three fairies tried to keep her safe as she grew, but Maleficent found her through the help of her raven, Diablo.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The evil lady known as the Evil Queen could scare just about everyone. She thinks she is the most beautiful and has a magic mirror to keep telling her this. However, the mirror tells her that her stepdaughter, Snow White, surpasses her in beauty and grace. So the mean woman turns herself into an old hag and goes off to find Snow White in the forest. Her mission is to get the girl to eat a poisoned apple and die. It serves the Evil Queen right that when Snow White falls into a deep sleep, the seven dwarfs don't bury her alive, but they place her in a glass coffin instead. And the Evil Queen in her guise of the horrid hag falls off of a cliff.
101 Dalmatians

This cartoon had a lady who was not playing with a full deck, Cruella De Vil. Her black and white hair was really wild, and can you imagine she wanted to make fur coats out of poor innocent Dalmatian puppies? Just the look on her face gave me the shivers.

Lol some of those evil characters are really diabolical. However, they are mostly shaped from characteristics of real humans. There is evil everywhere in life so it's no surprise it also appears in children's stories, perhaps as a way of introducing them to what they will find later in life.
