Stranger Things Season 4 - A Netflix Series Review

Season 4 of 'Stranger Things' is the strongest yet.

What is going on now? Oh, you know, we’re in Hawkins. Strange things happen.

Season 4 of Stranger Things dropped onto Netflix in 2022. A new evil has transpired in Hawkins. Taken back to her nightmare chamber, Eleven and the gang must fight against the evils.

The words that I can find to express season 4 of Stranger Things are beyond my vocabulary. Season 4 is the strongest season yet. The story, acting, twists, and stupendous visual effects are impressive. Once it was over, I stared at my screen for a solid minute taking in everything I just watched.

Every member of the cast delivers a phenomenal performance. They have all achieved depths that go beyond filmmaking. I have to mention David Harbour first because his delivery of monologues was so powerful and moving.

Millie Bobby Brown once again conquers an emotionally difficult role with a bold demeanor. Still missing her powers, Eleven has never been able to escape her past. Trapped in the horrors in the laboratory, she has to re-experience the terrors.

The entire cast worked tremendously together, cementing a genuine bond. Once again, the characters are split up into their own segments. The cast has intriguing dynamics. They have all grown to extraordinary levels in acting. I like how the writers test out new interactions. Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Natalia Dyer had the best interactions.

Not only in dramatic performances, but I am impressed with how each member of the cast attains levels of comedy. Gaten Matarazzo’s delivery of clever lives made me laugh. One of my new favorite dynamics is Joyce and Murray.

Sadie Sink was a standout this season. I have lost count of many times I have watched her incredible performance in the finale of ‘Dear Billy’. The emotional capacity that she had to obtain for her role was mesmerizing.

My only criticism is that Mike, Will, and Jonathan were not given enough to do. They disappear in the story. Their characters also fell flat, like Jonathan’s arc. It’s a little concerning that they’re nowhere to be seen in the finale because they are important characters in the show.

Let’s talk about the newbies. Joseph Quinn was excellent as Eddie Munson. For her brief role, Gracie Van Dien was great as Krissy. Every role leaves an impact no matter how small it is. Still, I wish she had more screen time. And Jamie Campbell Bower. He performed a compelling, dark, and well-acted monologue in the climax.

Remember when the Duffer brothers warned that they upped the intensity? They weren’t lying. Be warned that this season is overwhelming and will scare younger viewers. My spine shivered at the gruesome deaths. A new monster takes the screen. Vecna is terrifying along with his sinister voice.

Visually, Stranger Things has expanded in its world of digital effects. I did not realize that Vecna’s appearance is mostly practical effects. The actor performing as Vecna had to undergo a seven-hour makeup routine! The creation of all sets and The Upside-down World were given the best attention in detail.

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer did an amazing job with the story, adding twists that nobody saw coming. The new season of Stranger Things takes a turn into dark elements, but they still found moments of comedy. Testing out an assortment of story elements and dynamics, Stranger Things has garnered approval among a huge fanbase.

Now, I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the final two episodes. The episode may look long, but they go by in the snap of a finger.
