Table top games take us back to the good ole gaming days, before we had to plug in to play.
The Adventures of Waltor Windbeak
This is a tale of one noble hero, though I doubt many would be quick to call him such. But actions speak louder than words, so read on and determine if he truly is a hero or not. These are the adventures of Waltor Windbeak and the adventuring group R&D.

I Don't Really Care What Gygax Had to Say. Top Story - May 2018.
I'd like to start this article by saying I never personally met Gary Gygax. I've talked with lots of people who knew him, and overall he seemed like a fellow who had both his merits and flaws. As a tabletop gamer, I'm grateful for his contributions to my chosen hobby/career, and I recognize that without his efforts my favorite pastime would look very different than it does today.

The Importance of Character
It's not hard to get caught up in the mechanics of a game—especially a tabletop. If you're overly concerned with numbers then you might wish you had picked a certain class or race or school of magic. But whether you're an elf or a human isn't going to stop probability in its tracks. Whatever the numbers, you're likely to fail, or succeed in equal measure. It's mathematics.

Dungeons and Dragons: Asrie's Journey
To Whoever Finds This Old Rag of a Book: Last night, I made four new acquaintances. Their names were Ozula, Amy, and two male idiots not worth remembering. I also have a couple of pets now. I have a black mastiff named Scourge and a battle, brown rabbit named Snack. How did I meet this peculiar group?

10 Board Games That Aren’t Boring. Top Story - March 2018.
Ethnos This game is a mix between Lord of the Rings and Risk, but I do not like Risk and I love this game. With certain cards, you put a token on a city and gain points each round from how many tokens you put on that certain city or other cities. If you play with more than two people, you get three rounds. Depending on the types of cards you choose, you can steal others, play twice, place tokens wherever you want, etc. This game is very entertaining and strategic.

Wargaming with the Kid
What do you think of when you see the word "wargaming"? Is it an image of a bunch of dudes sitting in a basement, or in a garage crouched over a table peppered with miniatures? Is it hours upon hours of formations, battelines, dice throwing, ecstatic cheers of victory and despair filled cries of defeat, with the occasional savage ribbing of your opponent? I wouldn't fault you for thinking so because, at its heart, that's what it is. However, when I think of "wargaming," I lean more towards defining it as an opportunity to spend a few hours a week of solo time with my son, bonding over list building and beating the crap out of each other on the fictional field of battle.

5 Board Games on Kickstarter to Watch Out for in 2018. Top Story - January 2018.
In the fashion world, it is the year 2018. We observe the everyday human as they walk down the street: they wear jeans with waistlines starting at their belly buttons, backpacks with cartoon buttons, and glasses are the size of two very big grapefruits. We see floral patterns that match your mother's curtains, full body jumpsuits in singular colors, and dresses that fall just below the knee. No, it is not the year 1980. It is, as we said, the year is 2018. But the trends from this time appear to have resurfaced, you finally conclude. Interesting.Similarly, it is also the year 2018 in the world of games. Our current observation is that video games and consoles such as Playstation and XBox have long since taken over classic games of the past. If you want to play Cribbage, perhaps Meema at the care home would be up for a round. But since the rise of Kickstarter.com, we've seen a fashion world-esque surge in trends of the past in that board games are the new "in" games like Exploding Kittens and Unstable Unicorns have thrived in this new era of gaming from their feeble starts on Kickstarter, and you will notice many others trying to do the same. So in honor of Kickstarter and the revival of the great board game, here are some of their newest additions that you're going to want to add to your collection for the upcoming year!

Why Vampires Are Making a Comeback in Standard Format
MTG Standard format is possibly one of the most difficult formats to play, due to the fact that the cards are constantly rotating out. Though with the Newest set, Rivals of Ixalan, and its predecessor, Ixalan, vampires came out with a lot of powerful synergies. Though the dinosaurs have as well, they are just too high cost. The recent bans with MTG standard removed a few cards from the Kaledesh block that saw a lot of play and combo out to win turn 4-7. This clears a path for the newer cards of Ixalan and even some of the Amonkhet block to make their appearance on the battlefield. Vampires, specifically. The appearance of Maverin Fein, Dusk Apostle, and Elenda, the Dusk Rose allows for vampire token plays to become more prominent. When combined with cards like vicious conquistador and other low-cost vampires you can easily run a vampire deck that can combat the popular Beckett brass deck with chump blockers or the Naya-saur Dino deck due to the high cost of Dinos not being on the battlefield fast enough. Though fairly weak on their own, these synergistic vampires will allow for a new era of standard tournaments. My recommendations for success are to run a black white vampire token deck with cities blessing mechanics in order to annihilate the opponent with sheer overwhelming power. The other side of vampires, though, is not just power, but time. these decks should be thinking longer term than two or three turns. No, you need enchantments. The enchantments in standard rotate out so often that I lose track, but the best approach is to have enchantments with bolstering effects and buff your 1/1 vampires.

Creating a D&D Campaign
Full Immersion Gaming When it comes to creating an exciting and immersive table-top RPG, I'll warn you now you will have your work cut out for you. To set the stage, about three weeks ago my group of friends and I decided that we should start a good old D&D Campaign. So I got to work. What I didn't realize at the time was the insane amount of work I would have to put into it.

Roll Initiative
Even if you have been playing Dungeon & Dragons (D&D) for over forty years, there are still ideas that you can add to your repertoire and master, and if you’re thinking about taking the initial plunge into the realm of role-playing games, there a few basic player mechanics that you should learn. I’ve consulted with a few lifetime gamers around my city to come up with a short list of general game knowledge that will help anyone trying to get better at D&D. Adhering to this list won’t automatically make you a superior player in a few days, but they make you a better teammate and can potentially lead to greater things if you stick with it.
