ARGs: When Games Meet Real Life
Some may remember last year when Blizzard first hinted about their newest hero at the time. On May 26, 2016, a newspaper appeared on Overwatch's Dorado map, asking a simple question: "Who is Sombra?" At the time, most thought nothing of the message, outside of a potential new hero. But when Ana's origin video was released, everything changed.

Good Guy 'Grand Theft Auto' Is Going to Help Make Your Self-Driving Car Safer
Your first thought was probably to re-read that title, and now that you're satisfied that you did indeed read it correctly, you're intrigued and possible slightly miffed. So before we go any further down the rabbit hole, let me put your mind at ease: the streets of Los Santos are in fact being used to train driverless cars how to drive better.

Death of a Dynasty
It was what everyone considered to be unthinkable. A repeat of last year's World Championship final. Another win to be chalked up by the perennial Korean powerhouse that is SK Telecom T1. It all seemed to be playing out as per the last few years in a dynasty of dominance that was unrelenting and absolute. Even with a menagerie of uncharacteristic mistakes and a few gaps in the armor becoming more obvious through the Quarter and Semi-finals, SKT looked set to take their third consecutive and fourth overall World Championship on stage at the Bird's Nest in Beijing. I certainly had no reason to doubt them... until we entered Summoner's Rift for game one.

What Are Charity Arcades?
Video games are big business, but these days most of them reside in our homes, or live in our pockets. We play online from our PCs, we connect via the Playstation network with our friends, or we play mobile games from our phones. But there was a time not so long ago where, if you wanted to play quality video games, you had to get off the couch, and go to where the games were.

Responding to "Gamer Shaming". Top Story - August 2017.
Well, it's been a few years, so "Gamer Gate" has kind of blown over by now. But that's precisely why I feel a pressing need to talk about it. Because, in the thick of it, it was hard to even say "Gamer Gate" without getting tongue-lashed or even censored. Now, hopefully, since "time heals all wounds" we can sit down like reasonable adults and have a reasonable discussion about it. It's worth discussing. We shouldn't try to pretend it didn't happen just because it was ugly and tantrum-y. Both sides raised important arguments and made interesting statements about what they think the "gamer" identity is and should be. These days, to move forward as gamers, we should address the concerns of the critics of the video gaming community. I think we should do this with rational arguments, which were lost to the firebombs of virulent hostility on both sides I witnessed a few years ago.

How Fitness and Health Provide Superior Benefits to eSports
The prospect of eSports coming to the 2024 Olympics has sparked a great deal of interest. While some don't agree that gaming is a "sport," others point out how approximately 43 million people watched the 2016 League of Legends Championship tournament. No matter what side of the fence you're on, eSports is a growing trend.

Have Video Games Reached a Level of Artistic Expression?
Imagine this: You are in a first-person perspective, your virtual office is empty and devoid of any human life, almost as if everyone had vanished into thin air. The narrator tells you that everyone has gone missing and you should go to your boss's office, to check if there was a meeting you missed. Along the way there’s little for you to interact with, as traces of human life still linger, monitors are turned on and papers are ruffled on the floor, all the while the narrator instructs you where to go in this seemingly first level of the game. But then you reach a set of two open doors, so the narrator tells you to ignore one door and go to the one on the left. You are at a fork in the road and the game has already done an exceptional job at engaging you in its setting, to push you to continue to unravel the mystery and leaving you with a choice. Should you follow the narrator and go to the door on the left? Or disobey and take your chances on the right?
