I had searched for that abyss here on earth but 2022 had evolved our planet into one giant satellite that could stream a steady kind of tinnitus you could actually feel. There were no more places one could dwell among the mountaintops and contemplate the Now. There was only the perpetual buzz of communications resonating through the Social Registry chip implanted in every citizen's molar. I needed to find fluent silence.

I started going in first to just about beg these people to join knowing what they could expect from her. They got angry at me and would holler at me and curse me. I tried to calm them and help them find a way out, which seemed to make them even more angry.

"Cogito, ergo sum"- "I think, therefore I am", this is how Rene Descartes described life. I would change this statement a little, and it would look this way: "I think and I have my own life memories, therefore I am." Thinking alone would not be useful if we couldn't create and store new memories every second of our life. And we should also be able to remember them in the long term. The question is, if (thanks to advanced medicine) we could live forever, where would we store all the memories, covering tens of thousands of years of life? Could our simple primate brain face this challenge?

While looking through the window, James was wondering whether he had packed everything he needed. It was his first extra-planetary job and his mother had advised him against it. “Too many casualties”, she said. Indeed, there had been many accidents. First, there were the misfortunate accidents where spaceships failed, shortly after take-off or before they reached orbit. Of course, burning alive was not a good prospect for anyone. The landing was also a bit of a problem. Most people knew that going to the Moon was risky. He was trying not to think of the dangers that he faced in his new job. What he had learned in class was the theory. But this was no longer theoretical. He was leaving for space at this very moment, not knowing what the future had in store for him.

The Aloki
First, forget all about a black draped figure swooping down with a scythe. Forget Matt Damon in Dogma or Mandy Patinkin in Dead Like Me. That is not what they look like or act like. Aloki, aka as the Angels of Death are part of the family of Cherubim (who are NOT sweet little cherubs floating on clouds by the way). Aloki which in Hindi means Light, in Hebrew means Divine and in some African Languages means hunter, are just that. They are Divine Light Beings and are Hunters. They are the Divine Light.
