In my other blog - the autism one - I spoke about an encounter I had with a bull. I lived on a farm when I was young, and this bull used to terrify me. One day, I tried to stare it down, and it started shaking its head, stamping its hooves, snorting loudly - generally acting like a fucking psychopath. My nerve broke and I ran away from it. I was completely safe from it. It was in a pen, and there was no way it could get at me. But it was still a terrifying moment, for an eight-year-old boy.

We all have those tendencies within us. We all have moments of misanthropy, bigotry, homophobia, transphobia, - all sorts of prejudices. Because we all have things that shape us. Environments that raise us and nurture us... but which also seed in those insidious little details that limit us. Those little voices at the back of our heads, which don’t really belong to us. Empire of Shenendril: The Blue Chronicles 0: Chapter 4
Chapter 4 The shadows of the night lengthened as the sun dipped below the western horizon. One by one, as their poles fell into shadows, the lights that illuminated the better maintained streets of the Gulch at night flickered to life with the power of magic. On avenues, less frequented by Guildsmen on business and traveling Nobility, they had to make due with oil lamps hung from poles, or nothing at all. The lights gave the citizens only a semblance of safety, an illusion of security thanks to patrols by the city watch. In the alleyways and shadows of the labyrinth like streets of the Gulch men and women waited for the unwary to wander by. Whores lingered in the fitful pools of light provided by those oil lamps as they sought to separate men from their coin. Moans of passion as well as groans of pain could be heard from the many narrow alleys. Children of the street, called Minnows, snatched purses and begged for coin under the watchful eyes of their Sharks.

The Lifestyle Jeopardy
It's raining outside. Rain has a way of bringing sensual thoughts to my mind. Memories of past rainy days and special trysts appear in my mind. Some make me smile and some make me laugh to myself. The smiles are for the really good moments, remembered. The inner laughter is directed at myself almost always because I surprise myself with my ability to bury so much and so many. It's true that it's better to laugh than cry. There is always an element of sadness, but I embrace all of it as paths along my road that simply had to be investigated further. In those past days every encounter was, to me, safe, centered around fun and carefree. When I look back at it now, it seems to me that I was more like a girl of eighteen than forty. Doing things for the experience or adventure of it. Learning about the mysteries of sex and men and what it all meant.
