Sexism is everywhere

And I'll use my voice against it.

By Olive MPublished 10 months ago 3 min read

Did woman in history ever really succeed?

Women have voices. And we fought for them. We were silenced for centuries, treated like property, told our opinions didn’t matter, that we didn’t matter. We were burned for speaking, punished for leading, ignored for existing. But we kept fighting. We kept speaking. We marched, we wrote, we screamed into a world that didn’t want to hear us. And we’re still doing it, because some people still cover their ears the second a woman raises her voice.

Woman have, are and will never be silenced. There is no ear covers that we can't rip off. But, is it really worth it in the end? When someone doesn't wanna listen, he never will.

Unrealistic standards

Don't even get me started on those silly standers MAN have decided to set up and rate how we should look?

Slim stomach but curvy body.

Slim legs but big hips.

Waist small but breasts big.

Long shiny hair and round ass.

What do they think we are? Some create-and-use toy?

And I hate that most of us are giving in to that stupid system, only to feel once of male validation. It's really stupid, because confident and love come from depth of your heart, not some male gaze.

"What were your wearing?"

"Were you drunk? Did you seduce him? Have you lead him on? You obliviously gave him the eyes! You flirted with him!"

But they never listen to answers.

"He was my brother! My father! My boyfriend! My cousin! Alcoholic!

"I was sleeping. Drawing. Playing. Dancing. Running. Having fun"

"He was my coach, my doctor, policeman, teacher, 6th grader"

But they never listen. Not a word.

It's always her fault, for her dressing, how she felt, how she should feel about it.

"The ignorance" they would say

But why does he ALWAYS get away with it?

Why are we the ones being picked apart, while he gets to move on like nothing happened?

I am so tired of being the one expected to be careful, quiet, polite, forgiving. I’m tired of the world protecting men from consequences while girls are left with trauma, shame, and a million questions that never get answered.

And speaking of men, thank you, Dad.

No, really. Thank you.

Thank you for never being in my life, for ignoring me at family events. For never being home. For breaking marriage my mom is so scarily gently trying to keep together. For you for for being reason I don't believe in man. Thank you for being someone I would ran from, not to.

You taught me that man can't be trusted, they are just monsters who attract their prays and keep them away from light of world till their death.

Thank you dad for making me scared to fall in love, incase he ends up like you. You were my world and now, you are my biggest nightmare.

I hate when we are driving and you look at some girl on street, I hate that you don't know I have social anxiety and make me say hi to your shady friends and then yell at me when my voice closes itself in my throat, unable to leave.

I hate when you try to give me food as a sorry, knowing I have no money to buy myself anything and my mom not working.

You don't give her much dad. She struggles to pay bills and have 1 month of food in fridge because you put away 80% of your money to build a house I know you will never live to see.

I have my voice, and I started to speak up against you already. I hope you know it never will end.

Until one of us is dead.

Woman have their voices, and should speak up against men.

Always.
