The day had finally arrived. After many months of planning, getting all of the details right, and all sorts of other intangibles, it was finally here. Shayla Gibson and Trevor Paxton were finally going to have their wedding. Shayla had been waiting for this day for the longest time. She had been in love with Trevor for years, and it was a year prior that Trevor reciprocated Shayla's romantic feelings, resulting in their relationship, eventual engagement, and now, the big moment--the day that Trevor and Shayla would say "I do" to each other, and officially become husband and wife at last.

Shayla drank in every second she walked down that aisle; every step she took closer to Trevor. She remembered how much she loved Trevor, and how she was there for Trevor for the last year. Now, the moment came, and Shayla had said her "I do" to Trevor, and was waiting for Trevor to say the same. However, after a brief pause:

"I can't, Shayla. And you know why."

Shayla's expression shifted from happiness to a mix of desperation and panic, but it didn't end there.

"What are you doing?" asked Shayla. "What about the wedding?! What about us?!"

"Shayla, there is no us," said Trevor. "I remember everything now. There never was an us." At that moment, Shayla suddenly saw a pair of police officers walk down the aisle and towards Shayla, whose escape was stopped by Trevor.

"Shayla Gibson," one officer said, "you're under arrest for the attempted murder of Trevor Paxton." Shayla was panicking and screaming for Trevor as the officers took her away in handcuffs. Amidst her rant, Shayla shouted a statement that had everyone at the wedding shocked:

"If your wife had been in that car, we'd have been together!"

Shayla made a full confession at the station; she and Trevor dated in high school, but they drifted apart. Trevor married Heather Lukas, and it was two years ago that Trevor and Shayla encountered each other for the first time since high school. Shayla's torch for Trevor remained, and that one encounter turned into several "chance" meetings, with one of them actually seeing Shayla reveal her feelings for Trevor and beg him to leave his wife for her.

Trevor was unaware how deep Shayla's obsession reached, and also didn't know that Shayla had tampered with the brakes in Heather's car with plans to kill her. Trevor had borrowed Heather's car and crashed; he survived but had memory loss, leading to Shayla dating Trevor and manipulating him into believing that they were set to get married. Trevor's memories came back just before the day of the wedding, and he secretly reported Shayla after the memories came back to him. The station is where Trevor saw Heather and hugged her, the first time they saw each other in a year. As for Shayla, she would not see much of anything for a long time, as she received a life sentence for her insane and murderous plot.
