They say that it was once upon a time, that if it wasn't there would be no more stories. Once upon a time there was a beautiful queen like no other. She was the queen of the clouds. Her palace was only gold and precious stones and floated on the white fluffy foam of the clouds. She also had two twin children, a princess named Luna and a prince, the Sun.
One day, to celebrate the children's birthday, the Cloud Queen prepared a big ball like in the stories and invited princes and princesses, emperors and empresses, kings and queens from all corners of the world.
At the ball organized in the palace of the Cloud Kingdom, everyone was dressed in the most beautiful and richest clothes. Luna was wearing a sparkling blue dress, adorned with jewels. On her head was a diadem of diamond stars. The sun had a yellow tunic sewn with gold thread, and on his head a crown made only of precious stones.
Everyone was having fun and dancing, the music was inviting... At midnight, when the fun was in full swing, a noise and a strong wind caused the huge gates of the palace to open... With one jaw in the sky and one in the ground, the Witch of the Night appeared …
- What happens here? Why is everyone having fun and dancing, but no one is thinking about me? Why wasn't I invited to the ball? She said angrily, heading towards the queen with fast and furious steps.
The queen, keeping her composure, answered him:
- Those with a black heart have no business in the castle of joy... You only want to do harm... I can only tell you to go back where you came from!
– How? Do I command myself to leave? Don't you know that a word spoken by me can turn everything into dust? Just look! And the Witch began her spell:
I look in the mirror and see nothing, / A snowflake is soft and small...
My right leg is like the left one, /I hold an onion skin in my palm,
A snowflake is soft and small / Look at me now a little:
Princes and princesses, kings and emperors / On the spot they will be transformed into stars!
And as soon as the Witch finished saying the spell... all the guests at the ball turned into stars that spread across the dark vault of the night.
The Sun and the Moon quickly ran to their mother to take them in her arms and protect them.
- Please, mother, don't leave us! Don't let the witch hurt us.
- Stay calm, dear mothers... I will try to protect you as best as I can!
- That's what you think! Said the witch. My charms can destroy everything. You can't do anything... and laughing loudly and horrifyingly the Witch uttered another curse:
How everything in the world was born from ashes / And all the world will disappear in smoke
I cast a spell on you now: / May you see the sun during the day, may it not enter the house,
And let the Moon only show itself at night / And never meet her brother again!
How did the last word end... What do you think happened? The sun has reached the sky, illuminates and warms the earth, and the Moon shows its beauty at night. The curse came true: the brothers are always looking for each other, chasing each other, but they only manage to meet very rarely, and then only for a few moments.
Their mother, the Queen of the Clouds, lives alone in her palace in the sky and mourns her children. Her tears gather in a spring, and from the spring they reach the clouds that send them to the earth to water and enrich it. Every drop when it falls from there, from above whispers the story of the Queen and her children.
