There weren't always dragons in the Valley.

But there were. Oh there were. How foolish we were to ever think that dragons never existed or that they went extinct many, many eons ago. But here they were! In the flesh, and sleeping within the soil, within the hills and the mountains, powdered with snow. In the Valley and its surrounding environment, everything was teeming with life if you looked closely enough. A slight shimmering of the air, the sudden parting of the clouds, thunder striking twice at the same old oak, but yet the oak still stands, charred to oblivion, and yet still standing tall. All these signs, all these symbols, they are all there around us, if only we would take just one moment to listen, to see, to reflect, to hear, and to be one with nature.

But we didn't. We as humans didn't look closely enough or rather we didn't know enough of how to look closely. The gifts that the dragons gave us, we take for granted now and their presence, their existence, all but forgotten. That is why they fell into a "deep" slumber. They could not bear the sight of their last project, their last creation, refusing to listen to them and creating their own demise and destruction over and over again. Wars after wars, wasteland after wasteland, the Earth screams in protest. The dragons aided the righteous or so they tried. For dragons have their own agenda and their own time, trying to just save one measly group of ants called humans, on this dinky planet called Earth, was just a small task out of many that they were destined to do and take care of.

They are space travelers essentially, and life bringers, planting their essence and wisdom wherever they go and they are pure elemental beings that grow and cultivate under the environmental conditions around them. They are what we humans know and call matter, and I know, I know, matter cannot be created nor destroyed as dictated by physics. Not in the literal sense anyways. However, that is not entirely true and also completely true at the same time.. for we forget about the art of manipulation. Also of the theory of nothingness and how that nothingness is increasing with the passage of time. However, dragons cannot be "created" outside of planets, they must be created on systems where there are clear signs of life. That is why they fight and take flight between worlds, to ensure that life continues, even against insurmountable odds. Even when the universe dictates that there shall be nothingness for as far as the Deities can see, these dragons, these Guardians, are there, sleeping, resting, and actively fighting, fighting for the day, fighting for the years to come, to ensure that life continues.

One thing that the dragons never figured out on this planet was the concept of time or rather how time could pass by so quickly. The life of a human is so fleeting and in the blink of an eye or well, maybe a small nap for a dragon, that human's life is extinguished. Such a puzzling concept, really. And I know what you must be thinking. For dragons that seem to have all the powers of the universe and are almighty, powerful beings, surely they would have some power over time and at any rate, be able to greatly alter the state of the world into a much better place to be, to live in, but alas, that is not to be because our concepts and understanding of dragons have been skewed. We, the humans who inhabit Earth, have skewed them to our on beliefs and to our fancy. Dragons have no control over time.

However, this marks us to our introduction's end as to why we think that there were never dragons in the Valley. They have grown tired and weary of our planet's struggle. They turn their backs for a second in their time and there we are, us humans engaged in our conflicts and struggles yet again, and for what? Nothing of great importance, nothing that we can do that we can bring over to the next life, but we are selfish greedy creatures that want everything to ourselves. Well... no more. The dragons in the Valley have had enough of our tomfoolery and now that they have sowed the seeds of birth, creation, and life onto other systems, they are back. They are coming back in hordes; our teachers, our neighbors, our friends; to lead us on the path of righteousness before we lose ourselves for good.
