parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
How It Affects Me
My childhood was a relatively normal and happy one. I have three little sisters, two of which share a father with me. No brothers at all. Just us girls. Hell, there was hardly ever a long-term man around as I grew up. My mother had shitty luck and it was not until I was about to turn 18 that she finally found a man she is genuinely happy with. He is actually a pretty decent person. I didn't really see it when I was younger, but to be honest I think a lot of my issues with him came from the issues we have always had with our father.

My First Memory
Dad was on the other side of the kitchen table with his heart patterned coffee-mug, singing a tune to me that always gave me a rush of laughter. My mind never entirely made connections with the sounds coming from his mouth, and he knew that. But all I knew was that I wanted to hear it until the day came to a shy ending.

Mom to Be
My husband and I have been together since 2012. We have recently decided that now is a good time to try and start a family. We just got a house, we both are in a steady position in our jobs, and I am about to hit my 30th birthday. The plan that I have always had is that by the time I was 30, I would have at least 1 child. So we decided that now is “GO TIME”.

It's Alright Mama
"You're so lucky that you get to stay home with your kids all day." "It must be nice not having to work." "I wish I could sit around all day." The many comments women hear when they decide to become stay-at-home moms. It truly can be a blessing to be a SAHM. You get to be there for every moment of your child's life. From the first smile to the first steps, there is a lot to be missed if you're not with your little ones all day. Being a SAHM isn't the luxurious lazy life that a lot of people dream of, however. It can be incredibly stressful to be in this self-imposed isolation, especially for first-time moms and women who are used to working or going out often. Some women are SAHMs out of necessity. With daycare costs becoming increasingly pricey, many families choose to have a stay-at-home parent in an effort to save money. People who assume that SAHMs are lazy clearly do not understand the financial toll this has on a family that previously had two incomes and the physical, emotional, and mental toll this role can have on a mother.

What Autism Has Taught Me
Parenting is hard. There's no getting around that. There's the cooking, cleaning, appointments, acting as a referee if you have multiple children, attitudes, and so much more. My favorite part of the day is when the whole house is asleep. I have time to admire my kids, think back to what happened that day, what moments were perfect, and what could have been done a little differently.

Addiction
Does anyone know of someone who is addicted to something? Of course you do, everyone has some type of addiction, whether it's drugs, technology, working, caffeine, etc. Well, I grew up in a family of alcoholics. So, this is for them, but more specifically my mother.

Tired of You!
I'm a single mom who's always trying to do the right things. I'm in my second to last semester at my community college that I've been in since I got out of high school. I had to quit my job because it was so stressful, I got gastritis. And my biggest problem is my daughter's father because I'm constantly bending my back for him and when has he ever done the same for me? Never!

DNA
The picture above shows you my gorgeous little boy Malachai and my partner Matthew. Now they don’t look alike because they’re not related. Malachai isn’t his son. Malachai’s biological dad left when he was five days old and Matthew met Malachai when he was six weeks old. Now I know that sounds like I moved on very quick, but I’ve previously been with Matthew before. I met him in 2015 when I was living in a young person's housing establishment. We were together for over a year and a half but things got muddled and we broke up.

Special Advice for Daddies and Children
Today is Father's Day. To others, it is just June 17, 2018. To me, it is a day to say HAPPY DADDY'S DAY to the greatest Dad on the planet-mine! Unfortunately, I will be standing at the foot of my parents' grave and telling my Dad to have a Happy Daddy's Day. I have to believe in my heart that he will hear me.

My New Journey Into Stay at Home Momma-hood
What comes to mind when you hear the words “stay at home Mom”? Do you picture her in a robe and slippers, binge watching her favorite show while sipping a nice glass of red? Do you envision her drowning in a dog pile of children, not having showered in days? Quite honestly, my experiences thus far have proven it’s kind of a combination of both.
