Brett Riley has written a novel entitled 'Lord of Order' that is to me a cross between a thriller and a horror story. It is a novel that could be science fiction. This is the story of what would happen if New Orleans were a prison city. 'Lord of Order' is a futuristic novel that keeps things and ideas of the past. There are two to three groups in this story and they are known as Crusaders, Troublers, and Conspirators. It is also a book of having faith in yourself and your ideals. The main characters of Gabriel, Hobbes, and Boudreaux the Crusaders along with a Troubler by the name of Stransky who have a lot in common, but will need to work through their differences in themselves and New Orleans. Brett Riley has written a novel that is set in the future but has aspects of the past and present as keeping the names of famous sites, and characters having chores like citizens had in colonial times like gatherers and lamplighters. Professor Riley could use his novel in his courses to show comparisons and contrasts in setting and character.

Mark Haddon composed a radiant book that turned into a hit and won both the Whitbread Book of the Year and Whitbread Novel honors. It was said that Mark Haddon himself shouted, "Who on Earth would need to find out about a fifteen-year-old kid with a handicap?," while he was making this book. Much to his dismay that it was by and large the fifteen-year-old kid with an incapacity that made his book stick out, win grants and become a success. The book is classified, "The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and the kid is Christopher."

It was the early sixties, the serial installments invaded the houses, a sign of an emancipation within everyone’s reach, of a tangible social progress made up of concrete things, such as cars, holidays, the bottled wine, the refrigerator, the kids’ TV. Intimidated housewives and grandparents made him sit in the good living room, offering coffee and spirits. With dignity and refinement, he opened his briefcase and showed new samples of books that would mark an entire generation, stimulating curiosity and imagination, forging the taste of many of us.
