'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' created by Charles M. Schlutz. This is one of my favorite holiday cartoons this time of year. It is no longer shown as a holiday special on network television, but I can watch it on DVD. This is when Charlie Brown receives a telephone call by Peppermint Patty and invited herself to Thanksgiving dinner, but Charlie has other plans. The whole gang gathers in Charlie's backyard for a 'special' dinner. There are to me many still funny scenes.

This one is late since Halloween is over, but 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown created by Charles M. Schlutz is another one of my favorite holiday specials that is no longer offered on television. This one is when Linus sits in the pumpkin patch waiting for him like the Great Pumpkin is Santa Claus. All his friends do all the fun Halloween activities, and even Snoopy has an adventure.

Beyond Bars: Rethinking Prisons, Punishment, and What Justice Is Really For.
Do we need prisons? It is a deceptively simple question—one that exposes deep assumptions about justice, responsibility, fear, and hope. My answer is yes, but only provisionally. Prisons should exist, but only as a last resort, tightly limited in scope, radically reformed, and oriented toward a clear moral purpose: restoration and public protection, not suffering for its own sake.
