It was darkness. I was lost. Wandering through my life just existing, instead of living. Therapy had helped after the abuse of my ex-husband, but really it had only helped me cope with the dark thoughts that had manifested from the things he made me believe for years.

Running Up the Down Escalator
It was the spring of 1988. The First Assembly of God youth group I went to was attending a Bible Quiz in Dallas, Texas. My stepmom was one of the chaperones for the group, so she required me to participate on the Quiz team. Seeing as we traveled to other churches and saw beautiful scenery from our church van’s windows, I didn't mind.

Chapters Challenge: My Sweet 16
Hello! My name is Kristen Rose Ulrich. I am nearly 32 years old. The middle of my memoir was when I turned 16 years old. I fondly remember my sweet 16 party. I can easily say that it was one of the best nights of my life. Pictured above is a poem that my Uncle Andrew wrote for me in Italian. (I am 50% Italian on my mother’s side, and 25% German, and 25% Norwegian on my father’s side.)

The Vanishing of Amelia Thompson:
In the peaceful town of Willowbrook, settled between moving slopes and thick backwoods, a creepy secret had perplexed specialists and local people the same. The riddle spun around the unexpected and illogical vanishing of a young lady named Amelia Thompson. Her story started as a normal story of a promising life, however it took a dull turn that left everybody befuddled.
