Love For All
An age old debate: Why show your partner you love them 24/7 when Valentine’s Day exists?... because apparently your love is defined by the flowers, chocolates and cards you buy on the 14th of February every year. Call me the Grinch of V-day but there's no way my heart is going to grow 4x its size because my partner gave me an over-sized teddy bear that says "I love you" on its paw. However, my distaste for V-day stems from two reasons beyond this one major theme: lack of equality & focus on self-love.

Blue Valentine
In time with my vintage baby blue kitchen timer, I vigorously scrub the dye from the spaces and lines that make up my fingerprints. The plastic shower cap traps all of the moisture while my locks steep. The heat and humidity radiating is like a temperate rainforest, all of it trapped inside my terrarium crown. Unsure of what this “Extreme Teal” will transform my mixture of sand and saffron strands into, I daydream of tides and sea foam.

F * CK LOVE
I'm the first to shout "love is love" from every high-point around, but let's keep it real, LOVE SUCKS! Love is great when it's great and ultimately gut wrenching when it's bad. You have not been in love if you've never experienced heartbreak. If you've never had a sleepless night wondering how it all turned to sh*t. Love is a enigma of sorts, everyone wants it, it's craved and desired and then when you get it and it turns sour, you're willing to give your heart to the devil himself to stop the hurt. If you've been in love and had it snatched back, you have felt the lowest of the lows, and thought the most diabolical thoughts all in the name a healing your broken heart. The most cathartic action we can take when in pain is to find a distraction, to feed something else beside the pain.

Heard you hate it here.
What's todays date again? HA! Yeah right, we all know what time it is. It’s the freaking 14th of Febrero. That's February in Spanish, for all those who are extra miserable this year. We have all loved good old V-day at some point or another. Whether it was as a kid, pre-teen, teenager, or even up until you were 20 something still hoping someone could read your mind and treat you how you deserve to be treated. My point is you would be lying if you say you've never cared. Are we proud of it, maybe not? I on the other hand can’t say I hate it or love it even up until now where I am 7 months away from my 30th birthday. Its most definitely circumstantial for me though. Some years were dark and lonely. Some were dark and lonely, and I wasn't even single. One thing I don't do is dwell on it. It is just another day. A day I do like to wish love on everyone but not the only day I do so. I think the sooner you start keeping it real with yourself the sooner you will realize it’s not that big a deal. Yeah it feels like almost the entire planet is all lovey dovey, wearing red, super into their partner bla bla bla. BIG DEAL. Just because its your birthday and not mine doesn't mean I can’t be happy for you right? My day will come. So, don't be a bitter Biatch. But if you can’t help it than just shhhhh...I made this playlist for you :)

Songs for the burnt of Heart
Life is full of heartbreak, frustrated desires, unrequited love. Along comes a holiday dedicated to love, passion, romance; quickly appropriated by the card, flower, candy, and now the beef jerky industry. Because who doesn't love a beef jerky rose, amirite?

'80s Rock for a V-Day Pick Me Up
I grew up with parents stuck in the '80s and early '90s which drastically shaped my taste in music. While most were listening to the likes of Boys to Men and Usher in my neighborhood, I was still jamming to the old tunes my dad kept on vinal.
