Let's Play a Numbers Game with Music
There are plenty of songs out there that feature a number in the song title. Here are 10 of my favorite ones. This song list starts out in numerical order, but accelerates into higher numbers as I thought of some songs in particular that I wanted to add to the list.

Sparks Beyond The Peak: 5 Late Career Albums That Deserve A Second Look
I have a strangely consistent habit of finding many of my favourite musicians during the time, when they were returning from some kind of a hiatus or simply producing a late career album, which generally isn’t considered among their best work. It’s always the same old story. I start exploring a band or an artist, who has been around a while, eat up all their discography and become a fan. Then they release new music that doesn't quite hit the highs of the past, but I still end up having a blast with it, since I’m basically just happy that they’re still releasing new stuff. That, in turn, means that I often find myself loving albums that aren't exactly considered classics in the said artist's or band's career.

Singer/songwriter Kate Bush has influenced everyone from Tori Amos to Maxwell. She's also collaborated with such artists as David Gilmour of Pink Floyd (who also discovered her), Peter Gabriel, and Prince. And though she hasn't recorded new material since 2011, she gained a generation of new fans after her song, "Running Up That Hill," was used in the popular Netflix drama Stranger Things. Bush began her musical career in the late '70s, so her discography can seem daunting to new fans. However, with this list of nine of her greatest recordings, fans can not build a playlist of her work but gain a greater appreciation for her artistry as a singer and song stylist.

Introduction In the seventies I was in a band called The Bok (that I have mentioned in other posts) and one day I went round to the band leader's house (Andy Marshall) and pulled out three albums wich really surprised me. This must have been 1975 or 1976 and my musical taste was still developing, and though Andy was a year older than me (I think) his tastes were more esoteric than mine on the time.

River Studios Open mic 23rd of February
A new venture for me over the last couple of months has been to run a monthly open mic at River Studios. A local studio to me with a performance space. I thought it would be a great idea to do a little write-up of these events and also share the photos that are taken from the evening. I've also recently created a Facebook group for the event, so feel free to check that out if you are interested. Before I go any further I'd also like to thank all the artists that have played so far in the first couple of events. It has taken me a while to get everything set up how I'd like it. Of course, when you do something new, it will always take a while to build it up into what you want it to be. Hopefully, in the next few months, we will see some great open mic nights at River Studios to add to the huge list of open mics in Southampton.
