All about musical instruments, their tunes, and the people that play them.
The Guitar
I decided to learn to play the guitar out of spite. My parents had bought one for me, years ago, but two separate instructors had been determined to use it as a means of teaching me to identify key signatures via Mary had a little lamb, London bridge is falling down, and various beige flavored compositions by other music tutors. I lost interest quickly. All of that changed on the night of my fifteenth birthday.

Sierra Hull interview
By Brian D’Ambrosio On Friday nights in Pickett County, Tennessee—the smallest county in the state, tucked up against the Kentucky border—you could find a young Sierra Hull squeezed into a crowded community center, mandolin in hand. The room smelled of hamburgers and hot dogs from the concession stand, and local bands played while neighbors filled the folding chairs. Hull, barely tall enough to see over the microphone stand, was already a fixture on stage.

Pour Some Sugar on Me
Disclaimer: Music videos, contrary to popular belief, are not art. They are commercials for the art of the music. Like advertisements, they employ similar elements of art like writing, directing, acting, and the incorporation of statues, paintings, or other artistic articles. Now, with that out of the way, Tyler the Creator’s video for his excellent single “SUGAR ON MY TONGUE” is a mixed bag.

Tips for Beginner Drummers
A lot of people decide they want to learn to play drums early on in life; many as children or teens, who eventually go into music programs in school and learn a lot from that. For some of us, however, it is not that easy. I started drumming at the age of 27, and for me, that made it much harder in the beginning. Although I had taken chorus and marching band in high school, I had never attempted or tried to play the drums before, so a lot of things that I thought I knew about drumming were totally different than I expected. In spite of that fact, one thing was for sure; there was nothing like the feeling of playing my first beat. There is something to be said for the passion, elation, and extreme high that learning to play the drums gives us. That is what has kept me going for the past couple of years.
