Meet Me Over the Rainbow
My husband drove while I stared out the window and watched the clouds form shapes.. My mother had slipped into a semi-coma and it was taking forever to get from Flagstaff to Aztec NM to see her. I didn't know if I would ever see her alive again or not, and memories kept flooding my mind.

Music and Memories
Journey is a great American rock band with one of the most iconic songs ever written, "Don't Stop Believin'." Its message is simple: Believe in your dreams and believe in yourself. It's some of the greatest, yet simplest advice I could offer to anyone. Although this song is not tied to a specific memory or time period along my journey (no pun intended), it represents a simple overarching theme that has held true throughout my life. Shockingly only reaching #9 on the billboard charts in 1981, here is "Don't Stop Believin'."

No More Drama
She emerged from the shadows onto the stage dressed in a gold lame pantsuit and snakeskin boots. The familiar soap opera dirge famous for being the theme song of the Young and the Restless began to play, and we all knew what was about to happen. Mary J. Blige was performing on the Grammy stage. I was a little apprehensive because No More Drama was one of my favorite songs that year, but in my experience, singers like Mary J tended to hold back in the glare of television lights, and I desperately wanted her to SANG that song!

When My Mom and I Decided Shania Twain's 'From This Moment On' Would Be My Future Wedding Song
Growing up in Toronto, Ontario during the late '90s/early 2000s, there were a handful of recording artists that fellow Canadians worshiped at the altar of. There was Queen Céline Dion of course, Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, The Tragically Hip and Bryan Adams (I swear this man can feed the next twenty generations of Adams' with the royalties he's collected from his head banger "Everything I Do") just to name a few.

STORY OF MY LIFE
All my life up until a late tragic accident that resulted in me going to prison for the second time for a long time this time. It was then that I decided to put away wrong doings and start to do thing right. So, I went to school in prison. For me it was free. I took up BUSINESS MANAGEMENT and MICROSOFT computers. I learned a great deal I studied a lot, even though I slept around THE MOSTE dangerous of criminals both murderers, thieves, drug dealers, and drug users. I studied and maintained a perfect grade point average MAKING the Dean's list every semester. Just so that when I get out I won’t be lost or ever have to go without or starve or resort in going back to the street life, I was once a part of. I even took the time to start my own business from inside the prison walls lol and even helped others to do the same. So as I started in prison I'll continue now free. FYI IVE BEEN HOME FOR NINE YRS NOW AND DON'T PLAN ON GOING BACK! EVER!!. So here you go enjoy!

“I Want To Hold Your Hand”!
THE QUESTION You know it’s interesting that the current writing contest, to which this particular little piece of writing is submitted herein, is on the subject of songs and their impact on someone’s life. I have to admit that I’ve often wondered about that.

Because of You- I'm not Alone
Things had been hard since mom left. Dad wasn't sleeping, he was frustrated and angry all the time. Dealing with six kids by himself was more than he could carry. He was constantly short tempered and quick to discipline. I was too young at the time to understand he was just hurting, bad. When he got married to my step-mom, my 9 year old brain created the most beautiful story of how our family would be happy and whole again. I couldn't wait, we made it! Happy ever after!
