'After Laughter': The End of an Era
Last week, Paramore played the last show of the After Laughter era. I've had a lot of thoughts and feelings about this era and about Paramore as a whole, so bear with me while I ramble about one of my favorite bands of all time.

My Top 10 Go-to Sad Songs
1. "21 Questions" by Waterparks When I listen to this song, especially the chorus, I think if I liked someone and they knew, but didn’t really care enough to acknowledge it until they get so annoyed of knowing that they just drop what they’re doing to pity me.

Girl Groups to Listen To
From the Spice Girls in the 90s to Little Mix now, the world has seen a whole lot of girl groups. The Fader released an article in June of 2018 hosting the question, "Where are all the girl groups?" In the article, they mentioned that it seemed like the world had a plethora of boy bands, but the girl groups were nowhere to be found. Then, they spent half of the article talking about boybands. Here's a hint: maybe, if they hadn't done so much in-depth research on the boybands of today, they would've been able to find some girl groups like the ones I'm about to mention. Here, the Fader, I did the dirty work for you!

What Is Punk?
As people may know, I’m a punk. There can be different definitions for punk; like my definition for punk is that it’s not a genre or a style but it’s more like a state of mind—though the music and fashion are pretty badass. In our subculture, we fight for freedom and individuality. But let’s go back to when this awesome subculture started.

What Is Nerdcore?
First officially coined in 2000, of all years, Nerdcore soon grew into its own being from the subtle and somewhat cult-like following of its unnamed youth. Music has its ups and downs, and not all genres and subgenres have the wildest followings as pop, rock, and hip-hop do today, but nerdcore actually proves otherwise. Since the likes of Star Wars and the rise of computers, nerd culture itself has blossomed into the mainstream (almost with many of us not even knowing it).

Ten Indie/Alternative Bands to Hear If You Haven't
Indie pop/alternative rock is a rising genre in the music industry, and you couldn't avoid it if you tried. Many popular artists sway from their typical tone to incorporate these trending sounds, and we can't deny that it's working for them! To name one, while the hit band began on a small slope, Imagine Dragons took the world by storm when they released their first popular single, "It's Time," in 2012, causing listeners to fall in love with the soft pop/rock sound that they never knew they wanted to hear.

Pop Punk: A Revolutionary Genre
In the 90s there was an influx of bands trying to overlap. With Green Day and Nirvana becoming pioneers in their infancy, there were other acts who showcased their audacious ambitions. These outfits included Blink 182 and The Offspring. The Offspring’s straightforward punk thrills were surprisingly popular, 3 chord structures that excited people and enticed them to buy their records.

Is Punk Rock Dead?
Is punk dead? Has punk changed its face a million times? Has its ethos and independent spark fizzled out? Well with pop music ruling the scene, it could now be a dead genre. Of course, we don’t want its sound to dissipate, or its character thrown to the wolves, we want punk to thrive and become great again.
