The term a cappella was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato musical styles. In the 19th century, a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony, coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists, led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music.

It started in the summer of 1978 when I bought the single "The Robots" by Kraftwerk. I was into this futuristic thing which began a year earlier with the film Star Wars. This electronic dance tune was the catalyst that helped me branch out into the world of New Wave music.

A Brief History of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"
The Rolling Stones (1965) It was May 1965 and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, while still mostly asleep, grabbed his guitar and a portable tape recorder and recorded the opening guitar riff and lyric "can't get no satisfaction." After about two minutes of acoustic guitar you can hear him drop his pick and then 40 minutes of snoring. Two days later Mick Jagger wrote the lyrics and on May 12, 1965 the Stones went into RCA studios in Hollywood, CA and recorded the song that would become their first worldwide #1 hit. To be certain the stones did have other hits previous to "Satisfaction" such as "Not Fade Away," "It's All Over Now," "Time Is On My Side," and "Play With Fire." But none came close to the magnitude of popularity as was held by "Satisfaction."

Brynja closed out the month of October with her debut album, "Repeat." The thirteen-track album is chock-full of diverse sounds and topics.
