Music To Break Us Into An Era of Good News.

By TestPublished 3 months ago 3 min read

I know that many people have a stereotypical view of gospel music. They imagine stiff performances, formulaic lyrics, or music that is more about appearances than heart. I want to show you something different.

Since joining Spirit Embassy Church online this past June, I discovered Good News Music and, I have to confess, their sound has been rubbing off on me, not just as a listener but as an aspiring musician. Their music is genuine, human, and bursting with excellence.

Here are some of my favourite tracks from the label, in the order I first encountered them, each offering a unique glimpse into what makes Good News Music special,

1. Levi Angel- Wonders in my life.

Levi Angel’s “Wonders in My Life” unfolds with gentle assurance and melodic depth. The arrangement gives space for his voice to breathe, while subtle instrumentation supports rather than overshadows. It’s a song that points to awe in everyday grace.

2. Mendel- Rivers Flow.

“Rivers Flow.” is fluid and meditative, carrying the listener along like the water in its title. Layered harmonies and flowing rhythm create a reflective, almost cinematic listening experience. It’s a reminder that gospel music can be expansive and deeply moving without losing its heart.

3. Emali Angel- Here for You.

Emali Angel’s “Here for You” is warm and intimate. Her voice feels like a friend speaking directly to you, offering encouragement and affirmation. The production is contemporary yet unpretentious, letting sincerity shine through. It’s the kind of track that makes you feel both seen and supported.

4. Jimmy Malomo- Already Won.

Jimmy Molomo’s “Already Won” exudes confidence and joy. The lyrics are declarative without being boastful, and the energy of the track is infectious. It reminds me that gospel can be bold, celebratory, and spiritually affirming all at once.

5. Shammah- Shoko Ndiro

Shammah’s “Shoko Ndiro” introduces rich rhythm and cultural texture. Percussion and melody interplay beautifully, bringing life and movement to the faith-based message. This track shows how gospel music can honour its roots while remaining universal in appeal.

6. Towdah- Abracadabra

Towdah surprises with “Abracadabra.” The song is playful, creative, and full of personality. It’s a reminder that faith-filled music can be fun, clever, and deeply sincere at the same time.

7. Towdah ft. Denzel Malakai, Matthew Brandon, and Rue Angel – Pamuroro.

The collaboration “Pamuroro” is vibrant and layered. Multiple voices and perspectives create a sense of community and shared celebration. Listening to it reminded me how music can unite both spiritually and creatively. It tells a very beautiful story…

8. Craig Bone- Fire Fire

Craig Bone’s “Fire Fire” brings energy and movement. Afrobeat rhythms, driving percussion, and confident vocals make it a track you feel as much as you hear. It illustrates how gospel music can be assertive, bold, and culturally expansive.

9. Jaspr- Kakato

Jaspr’s “Kakato” steps in with rhythm and confidence. It’s spirited, inventive, and full of motion, carrying a message that feels both grounded and joyful. The vocals lift effortlessly over crisp percussion, creating something bright and alive without losing depth.

10. Savannah- Extraordinary.

Savanah’s “Extraordinary” closes the playlist on a powerful note. Her vocals are commanding yet tender, moving between intimate and soaring moments. The song leaves you feeling inspired and reflective, a perfect conclusion to a playlist that journeys through rhythm, emotion, and faith.

11. Rebels- First Flight.

Rebels just released their five track ep titled “Revival SZN”. You can check it out here

Good News Music proves that gospel does not need to fit a stereotype. Each track maintains humanity while achieving musical excellence. For anyone hesitant about gospel, this playlist offers a gateway into music that is authentic, diverse, and alive. For me, it has reshaped how I listen, inspired my creative ambitions, and reminded me that faith-infused music can be both approachable and extraordinary.

Each artist contributes a distinct voice, yet together they paint a picture of gospel music that is vibrant, genuine, and full of life.
