They Can Look Good
When CD came along we were persuaded by the pristine sound and their supposed longevity, but this was what I called the MCDonaldisation of music (Check my posts on Vocal for more of my opinions on this subject). You could skip tracks , skim through an album , play it in a different order using remotes and programming. The jewel case was homogenous and meant that if it got damaged then it was easily replaceable. So CDs have become generally homogenised and don't really stand out.

I Read It In Books
I am constantly surprised at the number of people who do not not read books. They give excuses that they are too busy , they can’t concentrate and it’s easier to watch the film or TV series. I was saddened when my mother gave two sets of encyclopaedias to my brother and sister because she decided she didn’t like books. She taught me to read before I hit primary school when I was 4 , so she was well aware of how important reading was, and I am thankful for that. I also did the same for my daughters, much to the chagrin of some of their teachers.

Hello May, Beltane and Jordan Reyne
It is an incredibly bright and sunny morning, though as I am writing this I am not sure what the temperature is like outside , although I will know by the time I finish this. I have been out and though it is clouding over it seems that winter has truly been banished and spring is moving towards summer, so weatherwise we are in a more clement atmosphere a;lthough there are still some dark clouds overhead , but as long as they wait until tonight before drenching us that will be fine.

Seven Days In Krautrockland
At the end of the sixties many bands had dabbled with non standard music, such as the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd who were not averse to producing extended soundscapes based on the actual sounds rather than standard song progressions.

A Computer Steals My Life
I bought my dad a laptop for his 80th birthday. He virtually never used it, so I bought him a tablet and he gave me the laptop back. He likes the tablet, it's easy to use though he's still getting to grips with the concept of wifi, but he likes using it to watch youtube videos and research things via Google. So far so good.

If You Don't Know Where You're Going .... Any Road Will Take You There
This morning is 7 degrees and it's cold it's feels like -4 degrees and you know, sorry, I'm just having a very very brief walk out. I feel less pressure now that I've reduced my daily target from 11000 steps to 7000 steps. I’ve now dropped the million steps and I feel like I can turn around and go back at any time which is good because I'm still walking still going out but it's great when you can do something to remove pressure

Metallica Was Right? - A Personal History of Music Media From The 1950s To Today
My friend Royston posted a link to this blog post from KFMX (Lubbock's Rock Station) about the legacy of illegal downloading. It sums it up in a nutshell. Although I'm in two minds about the grammar, should it be Metallica Was Right, or Metallica Were Right? Anyway, this post isn't about grammatical correctness, it's about the whole music stealing thing, and where we are at today and why we are here today musically/ It's probably best to do it roughly in temporal order so I'll do it by decades:

Coincidentally ... Ken Nordine
A couple of days ago on my Instagram #MusicWhileYouWork sequence i shared some of "Stay Awake" a collection of off the wall takes on Disney classics and the opener "Hey Diddle Dee Dee, An Actors Life For Me" from "Pinocchio" featured a spoken rap by someone called Ken Nordine who I was sort of unaware of but I, and you, have probably heard his voice.
